How about the myriad real issues of life, such as round or square teabags, milk in first or second, bath or Barth, and what you call your evening meal?
Who says older people aren't up with the crucial issues of the day?

We have two bathrooms and I tend to always use one and my husband used the other. My toilet paper hangs the 'right' way, ie over the top and he always puts his roll on the other way. I have a constant fight with myself not to change it in his bathroom but sometimes I lose and it gets moved. On next visit he moves it back but never says a word!

In hotels the carefully folded end is resting on the top.

I hang the loo roll so that the end is at the front. However, I cannot imagine being so rude as to change its position in someone else's house. Nor do I go through their kitchen cupboards turning cans so that the labels show the fronts or the coffee mugs so that the handles all face the same way. I don't check whether their ovens are clean either.

Teabag - whatever shape/brand is best value when I buy them.
Milk second, so i can add right amount to make it the right colour.
Bath, obviously, as the only arse Rs in it belong to me or DH.
Tea, as dinner was always a midday meal where I grew up. Even when packed lunches started being used in schools, we still had dinner ladies.
As for jam and cream, it has to be jam first for me. A scraping of jam and a dollup of cream, which is quite difficult to do in any other order

Devongirl, it is a fun activity at a dinner party provided you don't tell them why but it can lead to explosive debates about the differences. The explanation given in the textbook was that women protect their face while men during the war protected the flame so the enemy couldn't see them. But perhaps it is just to do with the wind blowing. Men who had served in the wars rarely took the third turn to light their cigarette when in the trenches as the first one marked you out, the second one the enemy got you in their sights and the third one........

I'm just glad if I haven't run out at an inopportune moment - nothing elegant about staggering around my flat with my knickers around my ankles looking for anything absorbent (and praying that I've remembered to buy some kitchen roll) It could be hanging from my shower curtain for all I care

I did, however, have a work colleague whose friend used to actually steal borrow her bog roll.....
