Getting started ...

A couple of weeks ago friends came to stay and I worked myself into the ground catching up on the cleaning. I was exhausted and didn't enjoy the occasion as much as I should have. How stupid! As someone said earlier, as long as it's not a health hazard and is reasonably tidy, bathrooms and kitchen sanitary, it's ok.

Thank goodness there are other G Netters who loathe housework. My motivation like others, is having visitors due to arrive. I keep the place clean and tidy, but am not hysterical about housework. By the way, what time do most G Netters get up in the mornings, I noticed many are on to GN about 7am!

I have perfected the art of keeping some ironing back so that I can put it out ready to be hung up just as OH or visitors arrive and it looks like I have been busy and not had my nose in a book all day.

I clean to extremes......either nothing at all, or blitz my way round the house.
I can't be doing with a little housework every day.
We often go out anyway, so that would be a nothing at all day, marvellous.

Diddy1, do not equate the time of my posting with being out of bed. Often done from that very bed and I sometimes fall asleep again. Getting up is somewhere around 0900 in the winter (took me many years to be sensible aboutthat: old habits die hard) and whenever sunshine and garden beckon me in the summer. I sometimes think I would be in bed even longer if a certain tv programme didn't tempt me. Want anymore lazy revelations?!!

Never liked housework, it's like painting the Forth Road Bridge get to the end, think you've finished and you just have to start again.
I find I can do so much then I run out of steam and get distracted by a book or photos or anything. Trouble is the cleaning time is getting shorter and the distract phase longer.

'Procrastination is the thief of time' but I love to potter, do a little job here and a little bit there. Any sane person hates housework, surely?
I've probably mentioned this before - I've a little embroidered cushion which states: "Housework won't kill you, but why take the risk?"
My motto for life, really.

I usually get up around 8.30 to 9am, but this morning set my alarm for a bit earlier, so I could do the ironing before my daughter got up. It`s now 6.08pm, and guess what?

Oh thank you all I now feel normal...when I feel the urge to do any I lay down until the feeling passes...I hate housework and do just enough to keep hygenic

And I always thought that I was unique as a housework shirker.

I get up very early as I don't like to miss the day. If I'm not going out, I put my "easy listening" clothes on, an apron and some music and turn to the housework first thing and dance about while I'm doing it. This way it is all out of the way by 11ish and the rest of the day is my own. To give me incentive to do the ironing, I listen to audio stories and save the "next episode" for the next batch of ironing. So all in all I'm a happy bunny and actually look forward to the "dross"!

Its lovely to hear not all G Netters are early birds, thank you for telling me, I now feel quite "normal" getting up around 9am,thats what retiring is all about!

we're rarely in bed before 2am ,always been like this as we worked strange hours often not finishing until after midnight.We sleep late most days or lie in bed chatting until well after 9 ...or 10 sometimes .I have seen me go up to bed at 4 or 5 am and stay in it until after lunchtime .Only on days I dont have grandchildren though,so thats this week out as I have 4 of them from tomorrow until next Monday.I might stay in bed for a week when they go home.The two youngest (cousins) are sworn ENEMIES so it could be a long hard few days

Yes. Doing it now. Looking at GN on my phone in my pyjamas when I need to wash up bkfst and clean the bathroom. DH gone out or he'd be nagging me.

Third break in 2 hours ... do a little, stop a little works wonders for me...

Managed ton do it all while DH was out - hes just returned with a bunch of flowers for me (very unusual) and made me a cup of coffee. Feel rather guilty now!

My problem is more one of rearrangement than cleaning today. We have a small 2-bed cottage and very unusually for us, we have both bedrooms in use whilst we are away on holiday as family are staying. We usually get by with visitors by putting stuff in our bedroom and then moving it back next door to the guest room, - we have acquired more lately as we are helping out with storage for DS1 between moves and have also been left with some things 'not needed' after DS2 moved ... I need a good boot fair and tip runs and intended to sort it out with DH in the second week of our upcoming holiday, but have found ourselves preparing for unexpected guests x 2 so both bedrooms needed whilst we are away in week 1. Sigh ... Better get back to it (I think I am winning ...)
