Tch ... definitely woken up grumpy today:
Catching up on Gn after a l9ng day out yesterday and irritated by some posts I don't agree with to the point I have had to have a 'word' with myself ...
Annoyed that Theresa Mays' bl***y dress is still in the news ...
Fed up that it is apparent that some people cannot tolerate simply joy in others without having to have a snipe ...
Cross that some news on BBC news is not news, but just advertising other programmes ...
Cheesed off because my coffee cup is empty nd the kitchen seems a long way away...
Sad eh?
Usually cheerful, but definitely wrong-side-of bed syndrome today. Hope for DH''s sake that it wears off soon grin grin grin
Anything already got your goat today?

Lucky me...I'm never grumpy! I think spending a lot of time listening to music, as I do, and singing in the charity shop where I work (I can't help it!), making the customers laugh, doesn't give me time to be grumpy. I had an elderly gentleman in yesterday looking for "easy listening" music, he wasn't sure about some of the CD's I suggested, so I had to sing most of the songs from them to give him an idea of what was on the CD's. The customers gathered round and some joined in...He was so happy and bought six (they're 3 for a £1) instead of the three he originally came in for. Such Joy.

Teddy123 and harrigran I've got a painful shoulder as well. I had xrays on Friday. I always seem to be grumpy! Except when I see DGD smile

Kim19 Sun 30-Jul-17 10:24:25

Ditto to Teddy123. Radicalnan you certainly caused me to smile this morning. Keep it up, please. And to Imperfect123 I can only say - just think: your day can only get better! I just love the wry wit that manifests itself h ere. Lovely......

Teddy123 Sun 30-Jul-17 10:33:03

ladyGracie I don't know about you but when I say painful, I really mean excruciating! I had an ultrasound to confirm diagnosis.

Made me very grumpy after spending A HUGE AMOUNT on a new bed which I thought might help only to discover mattress is too hard and shoulder(s) can't sink into it.
Grrrrrrr for Grumpy!

Good luck with your X-ray. I really really hope it isn't the same thing.

I'm grumpy today but going into detail would mean boring everyone with my nightmare neighbour again. We understood that the Council was taking steps to move her but I had a call from a community police officer yesterday who is trying to help who said that the Council are not doing anything. I was awake until 4.30 with the stress and then she woke us all (there are 4 other tenants in the building including me) at 6 this morning with her door slamming which has been going on ever since. She does it because she knows if annoys us. My 81 year old neighbour downstairs with serious heart trouble is now having to sleep in the afternoon when it the only time she is likely to be quiet.
I have sent a two page email to the Council insisting that they let us know what they are doing and asking why we should not instruct a solicitor to force the Council to protect our right to quiet enjoyment of our flats and against a continuing nuisance. I am now fretting because they will probably ring on Monday and I have to be both effective for the other tenants and not angry as normal emotions are not allowed in phone calls nowadays. She does have problems but it is mostly that she likes drama. The police told me that she was evicted from her previous flat for anti social behaviour - so they moved her into a retirement block with people who are all unwell (she is 30 going on 12).
I am going to have to go to the doctor this week to see if I can get some anti anxiety medication (which I haven't needed for about 7 years).
Anyway, ignore me. I'm going to go and send an email to my Councillor and try not to make that too ranty. I'm not sure how much help they can be but she is quite tough.

inishowen Sun 30-Jul-17 10:57:32

I feel grumpy because DH asked DD to organise a holiday abroad for all ten of our family. She has worked so hard, making phonecalls, trawling through the internet and has found a holiday that suits all our requirements. Last night he came home and started saying he didn't like the hotel. It's the one we went to last year and everyone loved it. He is just throwing a spanner into the works for no reason, so grrrrr.........

bluejay29 Sun 30-Jul-17 11:23:46

Fed up with BT's on-off wi-fi service. Also dislike patronizing news broadcasts so turn to other ones for the "truth". Euro news is good. I am divorced .. couldn't live with a selfish man, life has been much better.

missdeke Sun 30-Jul-17 11:25:50

Only thing making me grumpy at the moment is a pesky fly, it's been in my kitchen for over a week. I've tried leaving the windows and door open but it refuses to leave I've tried to bash it with a newspaper but miss every time. I even went and bought some fly spray, I followed the instructions, how long to spray for the size of room, how long to leave door shut etc etc, but the little b****r is still there to greet me every morning with a buzz. angry

HootyMcOwlface Sun 30-Jul-17 11:57:02

Oh dear Jaycee5 how awful for you all. I can feel my blood pressure rising just thinking about that awful neighbour you have to suffer. I hope your email does the trick - someone needs a kick in the gonads - perhaps your neighbour?! flowers

Rosina Sun 30-Jul-17 12:19:00

What a nightmare you are having, Jaycee5; you should be able to look forward to a decent day without all this aggravation. This person sounds deranged - nobody normal wants to upset others like this. Keep that chin up, and why not see your councillor face to face at the surgery? Having worked for local government it always seemed to be the personal approach that worked well - you could leave her with a hard copy of your complaints too - and keep going back. Would another neighbour go with you? Escalating this to your local MP is also a useful one - they are there to look after our interests and are paid to do so.

Just as an afterthought missdeke, flies get me almost to screaming pitch, and I have resorted to the old fashioned fly papers. I hate sprays as they contain all sorts of horrors (anything with an 'X' on the tin is a no no in this house) and having smashed a nice item trying to swat one I went to a local shops that sells fly papers that are covered with a fruit based glue. When they have trapped one or two little buzzers I get rid of them and hang a fresh one - I can well remember the horrible sight of fly papers when I was a child, with more fly than paper - Uggh! One suspended in the dining room seems to clear the whole house - worth a try, and about as 'green' as you can get. Good luck.

This thread made me giggle.

Diddy1 Sun 30-Jul-17 13:41:27

I am feeling grumpy today, after DH always sees the negative in everything, why is he always right and we others are always wrong? it really gets my goat

Imperfect27 Sun 30-Jul-17 13:54:37

It is official Gnetters - all your grumpiness has cheered me up immensely! And, to be honest, made me count my blessings in many places too! But I think this thread could run and run ... I am pretty sure my grumpometer will be zinging again quite soon ...just a question of scale. grin

Stansgran Sun 30-Jul-17 14:10:37

I am grumpy because I upgraded iPad and since then I have to log into gransnet Amazon everything each time even though I tick the stay logged in box. Really fed up. Also Dgc have been saying and dgc1 was given Alexa for a Christmas present. Why does an11 year old need an Alexa thingummy to turn off lights fgs. Furthermore the other child was given a new mattress. As a present.
For Christmas.
And yes I have a torn rotator cuff but was told that everyone over 60 is likely to have a torn rotator cuff and I had a steroid injection . It lasts a couple of years and I think they are willing to give further injections. And my knees hurt. And my toes. And my hips. I'm having a real moanfest today. I shall go and sew and feel better.

Stansgran Sun 30-Jul-17 14:11:53

Staying not saying and here's the ? I missed out.

LadyGracie Sun 30-Jul-17 14:51:49

Teddy123 whatever it is I've had it for a good couple of months, I kept telling myself it would go, at times I want to hold my arm tightly into my body and scream. I tried an extra pillow thinking raising my head may help, I bought a mattress topper, neither worked. If I lie on my back it feels like my shoulder is pulling downwards if I lie on my side I can't get my arm in the right position to stop the terrible dragging ache. If I want to turn over or get out of bed I have to hold on to my shoulder, roll over and push myself up with my good arm.
And I'm still hoping it's nothing hmm. What is a rotator cuff?

Teddy123 Sun 30-Jul-17 14:58:10

stansgran I also tried physio and the steroid injection ..... it worked for precisely 4 weeks!!!! Hence was referred to consultant. Bone overgrowth etc etc.

On this 'minor' medical problem I feel justified in feeling grumpy having had my GP telling me more or less what you said! Until a couple of years later I'd had enough & went back to see him, so physio & steroid. Some things don't work for everyone.

I was almost joyous when the radiographer doing my ultrasound said "oh you poor thing, you must be in agony". At last someone believed me.

So now grumpy old woman!

Imperfect27 Sun 30-Jul-17 15:14:58

I think that being in pain is absolute justification - more than - for being 'grumpy'. I did not have that excuse. I just woke up feeling at odds with the world today - very out of character for me (quiet there DH!!! ) Having a vent is all I needed - I am sorry for all those who have posted here that are facing difficulties that require forbearance. xx

Jaycee5 Sun 30-Jul-17 15:57:57

Thanks Hooty and Rosina.
I feel a bit better this afternoon because a woman from the next block came in and was banging on my neighbour's door to complain about the noise (she didn't answer although she was definitely in). I gave her a copy of my email and told her the Council wasn't doing anything. She came back and had spoken to the other people in their block and they are all angry about it too and so apparently are the people in a block sideways to ours. She is going to take the logs she had been keeping to the Council tomorrow and at least one of the tenants in her block is going to call the Housing Department tomorrow. I definitely believe in strength in neighbours as long as they stay angry.

Jaycee5 Sun 30-Jul-17 15:58:36

strength in numbers that should be.

Caro1954 Sun 30-Jul-17 15:59:22

maryhoffman37 a similar thing happened to me two days before Christmas and it hits me every now and then that I'll never see her again. But that's sadness rather than grumpiness ...

Teddy123 Sun 30-Jul-17 16:08:59

ladyGracie The rotator cuff is at the top of your arm attached to the shoulder ..... don't know how to describe this medically (!) but the part of your shoulder which rotates your arm. That's a pathetic description.

I know exactly what you mean about trying to turn in bed. It seems to stiffen up a bit like a frozen shoulder I guess. I do the same as you and use opposite arm to support it as I lever myself up!

My symptoms started with 'electric shocks' down the arm if, for example, I put arm forward to turn on car ignition. Thought I had a trapped nerve. Hanging clothes in wardrobe, putting stuff in kitchen cupboards, putting coat on/off.
Basically everything though am able to do the weeding (great!!) as arm going downwards. I use ibuprofen & paracetomol to keep pain at bay!

Sorry this is soooooo boring! Has made me grumpy because I'm used to being active. Wanted to paint the shed this week but almost pleased it was too damp! It's made me generally lazy, probably because of broken nights sleep ....

Anyway, the consultant orthopaedic surgeon had me all booked in for a repair job, shaving excess bone and repairing the torn tendons ..... But I've put that on hold! As he told me, there's no promises that the repair would be successful. I think scar tissue has built up and is holding tendon in place because electric shocks have stopped! I said I would call surgeon once I was ready to take the plunge!!!! I've got other medical issues so am reluctant.

Apologies for this mammoth post. My arm is now aching from typing!!!
See how grumpy I am. But generally fairly happy go lucky. Good luck with your shoulder & get a scan xx

luluaugust Sun 30-Jul-17 17:21:03

Teddy123 in similar position to you, been told by Consultant very unlikely he can do any kind of op as I have so much metal in my arm from break 3 years ago. Shoulder ops are problematic at best of times, I think you are very wise to wait. Can make me pretty grumpy at times.

Kerenhappuch Sun 30-Jul-17 17:39:12

I thought your OP said you were 'catching up on gin', Imperfect! grin

I've been unbelievably grumpy over the last couple of years, lots of things and people annoy and irritate me, particularly on the telly. Maybe I need to get out more, but fatigue and arthritis make it difficult to walk myself into a better mood.

I do try not to verbalise all my irritation, but I'm sometimes able to find a fellow sufferer on Facebook to have a moan to about various (to give one example) television vicars who get on my nerves.

Sincere sympathies to those who have shared really painful things on this thread.

JaneD3 Sun 30-Jul-17 18:13:04

I had pain in my shoulder whenever I lifted my arm, even to the steering wheel - the dragging kind of ache.
It was bone overgrowth caused by arthritis. Very commonly the cause of shoulder pain in ladies of a certain age! Keyhole surgery to remove the growth and remove and clean a tendon and I was very quickly as good as new. (Sub acromial decompression). Have faith! I keep my fingers crossed for all of you x
