Tch ... definitely woken up grumpy today:
Catching up on Gn after a l9ng day out yesterday and irritated by some posts I don't agree with to the point I have had to have a 'word' with myself ...
Annoyed that Theresa Mays' bl***y dress is still in the news ...
Fed up that it is apparent that some people cannot tolerate simply joy in others without having to have a snipe ...
Cross that some news on BBC news is not news, but just advertising other programmes ...
Cheesed off because my coffee cup is empty nd the kitchen seems a long way away...
Sad eh?
Usually cheerful, but definitely wrong-side-of bed syndrome today. Hope for DH''s sake that it wears off soon

Anything already got your goat today?
And I was feeling hard done by because I have to clean my oven ...
xx
Thankyou for this thread it has cheered me up?
I am sure I must be the founder member of the Old Farts Club !
Today has been awful DS 1 broken hand he has Down Syndrome totally unable to cope with 1 hand I even had to wipe his bum!
DD2 Down Syndrome caught out telling porkies about eating habits
DS2 complex needs decided to go into seizure mode
And finally Dd3 also complex needs 3 yes 3 exploding colostomy bags.
However reading this thread has made me smile....I am not alone
Good luck and thanks x
I don't need to morph. I am
I am not sure whether I am grumpy or just confused really. I placed an order for some bark mulch to be delivered last Monday and since it wasn't enough I had to order more and it was due to be delivered tomorrow, Tuesday. The Monday order arrived on Tuesday last and the Tuesday order arrived at the crack of dawn this morning, Monday! Why do deliveries never happen as arranged?
Just noticed this missdeke; 'got mine from a local small supermarket, but you can also get them on Amazon. I am quite a convert; as mentioned they are fruit based glue and have nothing dangerous to harm anyone making contact ...except the fly of course.
I'm definitely becoming a 'Mrs' Meldrew. Litter everywhere, speeding and dangerous driving, irresponsible dog owners, who cares what Teresa May or anybody else is wearing? The list goes on. I despair ......
I have definitely become more grumpy over the years, I'm only 62 but am certainly a "grumpy old woman" about certain things. Manners, or should I say lack of them make my blood boil. I find myself shouting at the tv (a perk of being a widow
) especially at Politicians.
I have sympathy with those of you suffering with shoulder pain, I have Arthritis in my big toe of all the daft places, usually bearable. Several years ago I had a nerve problem with my shoulder, I had to go into our spare room to get comfortable at night & even then it was difficult to sleep, all of a sudden it cleared up
.
I think we're all entitled to an "off day", enjoy you grumpiness occasionally
[Rosina] Was thinking about those flypapers but not seen any in the shops for years. Will have to keep my eyes peeled
.
Teddy123 can't be much help with sleeping I am afraid, I have two deep pillows and am able to sleep on one side easier than the other.
JaneD3 have made a note of the op you had, Consultant did say almost everyone had some Arthritis and bone growth after a certain age, glad yours worked.
What a game it all is, no wonder we get grumpy.
A few years back there was a tv programme called "Grumpy Old Men" and anogher called "Grumpy Old Women" - or was that the same programme ?
Anywzy, I wasn't that olc at the time but I often thought I agreed with nearly everything they said. It does creep up on you doesn't it - old age and grumpiness?
Thanks Teddy, I'll wait to see what the X-ray shows and take it from there. I still keep thinking it will get better on it's own! Wishful thinking! Ever the optimist, that's a fib too.
Reading everyone else's problems makes me realise it's okay to be grumpy, sometimes
Oh Thankyou for this post! It's not just me! I have arthritis in my wrists, a dodgy ankle that requires surgery, and a food addict foster cat that wakes me at 4:30am every morning. I have found myself swearing under my breath at the slightest little thing (terrified that my DGD will hear me and report back). I'm feeling judgemental about every asinine tweet I read, but I still go to Twitter - and want to reply WTF?!?! to most everything. Then I read about amaprazole.... And I'm on something similar, four years now. So all I could think about was Alzheimer's.
No wonder I'm tetchy. But aren't we supposed to be? Curmudgeonly old ladies?
We all get grumpy days, maybe as we get older and the world evolves more into something we don't understand things seem worse.
Metaphorical
for you barbaralynne, it must be horrible for you. My menopause is over now and the hot flushes were so irritating. My chemotherapy only lasted around 17 weeks so I consider myself damn lucky (but it was a trial at the time).
Can anyone remember a sign which some of us put up at work which went along the lines of ...
'It takes 23 (can't recall the number) muscles to frown but only 7 (?) to smile. It would only take me 3 (?) to pull back my fist and smack you in the mouth'.
It seems appropriate for days like this.
Luluaugust So pleased to find someone else who understands.
Consultant was great, very honest about the result. Date was set, pre op stuff done when I said not sure!
Have you any tips for comfort at bed time? I know what Gracie meant about sleeping on your back and the arms feeling sooooo heavy. Actually sitting up would be easier so now wish I had bought one of those electric ones. Can't think where my brain was when I ordered this thing.
Hope you've got some tips!
I had pain in my shoulder whenever I lifted my arm, even to the steering wheel - the dragging kind of ache.
It was bone overgrowth caused by arthritis. Very commonly the cause of shoulder pain in ladies of a certain age! Keyhole surgery to remove the growth and remove and clean a tendon and I was very quickly as good as new. (Sub acromial decompression). Have faith! I keep my fingers crossed for all of you x
I thought your OP said you were 'catching up on gin', Imperfect!
I've been unbelievably grumpy over the last couple of years, lots of things and people annoy and irritate me, particularly on the telly. Maybe I need to get out more, but fatigue and arthritis make it difficult to walk myself into a better mood.
I do try not to verbalise all my irritation, but I'm sometimes able to find a fellow sufferer on Facebook to have a moan to about various (to give one example) television vicars who get on my nerves.
Sincere sympathies to those who have shared really painful things on this thread.
Teddy123 in similar position to you, been told by Consultant very unlikely he can do any kind of op as I have so much metal in my arm from break 3 years ago. Shoulder ops are problematic at best of times, I think you are very wise to wait. Can make me pretty grumpy at times.
ladyGracie The rotator cuff is at the top of your arm attached to the shoulder ..... don't know how to describe this medically (!) but the part of your shoulder which rotates your arm. That's a pathetic description.
I know exactly what you mean about trying to turn in bed. It seems to stiffen up a bit like a frozen shoulder I guess. I do the same as you and use opposite arm to support it as I lever myself up!
My symptoms started with 'electric shocks' down the arm if, for example, I put arm forward to turn on car ignition. Thought I had a trapped nerve. Hanging clothes in wardrobe, putting stuff in kitchen cupboards, putting coat on/off.
Basically everything though am able to do the weeding (great!!) as arm going downwards. I use ibuprofen & paracetomol to keep pain at bay!
Sorry this is soooooo boring! Has made me grumpy because I'm used to being active. Wanted to paint the shed this week but almost pleased it was too damp! It's made me generally lazy, probably because of broken nights sleep ....
Anyway, the consultant orthopaedic surgeon had me all booked in for a repair job, shaving excess bone and repairing the torn tendons ..... But I've put that on hold! As he told me, there's no promises that the repair would be successful. I think scar tissue has built up and is holding tendon in place because electric shocks have stopped! I said I would call surgeon once I was ready to take the plunge!!!! I've got other medical issues so am reluctant.
Apologies for this mammoth post. My arm is now aching from typing!!!
See how grumpy I am. But generally fairly happy go lucky. Good luck with your shoulder & get a scan xx
maryhoffman37 a similar thing happened to me two days before Christmas and it hits me every now and then that I'll never see her again. But that's sadness rather than grumpiness ...
strength in numbers that should be.
Thanks Hooty and Rosina.
I feel a bit better this afternoon because a woman from the next block came in and was banging on my neighbour's door to complain about the noise (she didn't answer although she was definitely in). I gave her a copy of my email and told her the Council wasn't doing anything. She came back and had spoken to the other people in their block and they are all angry about it too and so apparently are the people in a block sideways to ours. She is going to take the logs she had been keeping to the Council tomorrow and at least one of the tenants in her block is going to call the Housing Department tomorrow. I definitely believe in strength in neighbours as long as they stay angry.
I think that being in pain is absolute justification - more than - for being 'grumpy'. I did not have that excuse. I just woke up feeling at odds with the world today - very out of character for me (quiet there DH!!! ) Having a vent is all I needed - I am sorry for all those who have posted here that are facing difficulties that require forbearance. xx
stansgran I also tried physio and the steroid injection ..... it worked for precisely 4 weeks!!!! Hence was referred to consultant. Bone overgrowth etc etc.
On this 'minor' medical problem I feel justified in feeling grumpy having had my GP telling me more or less what you said! Until a couple of years later I'd had enough & went back to see him, so physio & steroid. Some things don't work for everyone.
I was almost joyous when the radiographer doing my ultrasound said "oh you poor thing, you must be in agony". At last someone believed me.
So now grumpy old woman!
Teddy123 whatever it is I've had it for a good couple of months, I kept telling myself it would go, at times I want to hold my arm tightly into my body and scream. I tried an extra pillow thinking raising my head may help, I bought a mattress topper, neither worked. If I lie on my back it feels like my shoulder is pulling downwards if I lie on my side I can't get my arm in the right position to stop the terrible dragging ache. If I want to turn over or get out of bed I have to hold on to my shoulder, roll over and push myself up with my good arm.
And I'm still hoping it's nothing
. What is a rotator cuff?
Staying not saying and here's the ? I missed out.
