New Mother in law

Hi my son recently married and the couple live very near by. I do get along with his new wife and she is very close to her own family which is great. I dont want to be MIL from hell I have my own life etc. My son calls in now and again and I will give a helping hand with things if need be, but do I stay away,? do I contact them?, dont want to accused of interfering. Or ring to see how they are. Hard being a new MIL

The very fact that you're thinking about this Chris4159 means that you should be fine - the MILs who have trouble are those who still regards their own sons as their personal property, even when they are married. At the moment there is no baby so they are still wrapped up in each other and don't need much company! If you like your DIL and get on with her you are more than half way there.

Lovely advice here ... have 1 SIL and both sons have partners so making notes!
