We visited a castle yesterday and, after high fiving the girl at the counter because we're English Heritage members, she told me to be careful on the steps and watch out for the molehills which to be fair she was warning everyone about. Then she said, 'And NO climbing on the walls!' I burst out laughing and she said that she'd met my sort before and we were worse than children. So we agreed that if I was very good and didn't climb on the walls she would open a jar of lemon curd for the sample table as I didn't like the rhubarb and ginger jam they had open.
So we looked around the castle and I only climbed on one little bit of wall 
because I wanted to fire a pretend arrow at an obnoxious spoilt little boy who needed to be back in the car and not ruining a brilliant castle for everyone else. True to her word she opened the lemon curd for me (although I didn't admit to the one little wall)

What surprised me was the fact that she knew what type of granny I was. I dress quite conventionally and don't look wild but she totally saw through my disguise
It's not the first time me and DH have been warned off playing. When we took the children on a canal boat recently the guide told me and DH not to put our hands in the water but didn't mention it to the children or anyone else.
I admit to tree climbing, stream paddling and damming, water creature watching, whirling in a fairy grotto and hiding inside large overhanging trees but that's what having fun is all about. I just didn't think I looked the part
I've already been a rebel today!. I made my husband a sandwich to take out with him later and used olive oil spread instead of his usual butter!! This could get ugly BUT I DON'T CARE
Oh yes annsixty - I seem to have failed already. Anyway I asked my son if I was a rebel and he nearly fell off the sofa laughing - so I guess it's just in my head that I am a rebel!!

It was only a little wall and I had to climb on it to get to the arrow slit so that I could shoot at the obnoxious little boy. So really it wasn't my fault .....it was the obnoxious child's
We forget that the elderly were once young. DH made an old ladies day not long ago. She could barely walk but it was obvious that she wished she could still dance. So he asked her to dance and flirted outrageously with her as he virtually carried her around the floor. At one point he said, "You're so light on your feet I could swing you up into my arms and whisk you away." She giggled and replied, "I may not be able to walk properly lad but get me on my back and I'll give you a run for your money." It was her 94th birthday
I've often said I'm growing old disgracefully although nowadays its only in my head due to lack of opportunity My son's ex gf once christened me a black metal rebel queen due to my music taste - loved it then and still do. Long may us rebels continue!
