She may well have been, as she was abused at the Armed Forces Day event in Liverpool, but at least she attended and supported our troops. Jeremy Corbyn, on the other hand, shirked that responsibility, preferring to go to Glastonbury to woo the young and impressionable.

Hands up if you feel we should just blank this now rather than wait for the nastiness to kick and the thread to be deleted.✋✋

Apologies if I've started a thread similar to yesterday's deleted one. I had no idea. The child in me wishes I'd seen it, but sounds like it became pretty nasty ,such a shame when it goes that way ,do you think we grans are more fiesty than the young ones!!

It is supposed to be a discussion forum , but by the time is thread gets to about the sixth or seventh comment it had deteriorated into childish insults about intelligence er. You may find post stupid & maybe it is , but that is for you to join in or not there is no need to post anything if you don't like it. norose you could have posted on the existing Glastonbury thread. Did you really miss all the trouble yesterday - it was truly vile and even if I jumped to conclusions about your motivation for starting it ( and I'm sorry for that) it's understandable that myself ( and some others) just saw what would happen with this. And it did, within 7 minutes it was the same old same old JC mindless bashing - which also of course was a bashing the young post as well.

I did not see any of yesterday's deleted thread. I sort of wish I had, but sad to hear it ended so badly. I am not bashing JC or TM as such, it just occurred to me that TM would most likely to have been open to ridicule if she had attended Glastonbury & whereas JC would be applauded as indeed he was, therin lies the hypocrisy & inverted snobbery . I am not actually for either of them & there isn't much else to choose from so it's going to be a rough ride for us all for awhile. But nothing compared to those poor people who have lost their home in the terrible terrible fire, it just saddens me that we are all so petty at time. Over & out

norose you provided a thread that would lead to JC bashing - you've got a perfect right to do that but others have a perfect right to be absolutely fed up to the back teeth with the relentless nature of it. Anyway, there's nothing further to say

It may have been a rhetorical question, but the date of Glastonbury has been fixed for longer than the Armed Forces Parades. And Jeremy had been invited by Michael Eavis himself.

I think the plug should have been pulled on the Glasto thread ( or rather the Oh Jeremy Corbyn as it was called) but not because anybody disparaged Corbyn (every right to do that) but all the personal snide and childish comments that were directed at posters.
If posters limit themselves to talking about politicians of all kinds and not each other, it would be a good thing.
To answer the OP, I think music events, even Glastonbury, would be a lot better just concentrating on the music.What we had was Corbyn saying he will be PM in six months and McDonnell, inciting the crowd ( or trying to, weak applause) by saying that residents of the fire had been murdered.

The answer to the OP (would Theresa May have been ridiculed had she gone to Glastonbury?) is yes of course she would. A politician of mature years with an uncertain majority, or one in opposition, who goes to a music festival like Glastonbury to whip up support among the young, is bound to become the butt of jokes suggesting which oldie numbers they could perform and so on. Surely they expect it?
