Oh thank you all, I've had a lovely day, lots of cards and messages and I've been for a delicious lunch with my friend. She made me have a desert too!

Happy birthday. I hope you have a good day. When you've finished celebrating can you come back and let us know how this milestone feels. I struggled being 40, my 50 didn't bother me. Approaching my 60 four years ago was a bit of a struggle. I'm ok once I've gone through the day. It's just before when I start to think oh no.

Yes. There is only ONE takeaway where we live. The others are a six mile drive away.

Oh, the joys of living in the back of beyond!!

I could kick myself for not realising earlier that our well thumbed, dog-eared menu was probably ten years out of date. DGS patiently explained that if I had a smart phone I would have been able to access their latest one online but that's nowhere near as much fun as searching through various kitchen drawers to find it, calculating from the ticks and crossings out who likes what and wondering how much the prices have gone up.

They have it far too easy these days

Thanks everyone for the birthday messages. Tonight's Chinese from our local takeaway with DD and DGS was abandoned because they had to close due to a fire in the kitchen We'd all had a couple of glasses of Prosecco during the afternoon so nobody could drive into town to pick one up.

Sausages and chips all round!!

DH and I will go out for lunch tomorrow to make up for it. That'll be after I've spent all my garden centre tokens!!
