Feeling cynical about the election?

I tried to tell her that in our town it matters not a jot whether she personally voted or not. The Labour majority is and has always been massive.

Apathy is a huge danger to all political systems.

There is no question but that we should vote. Sometimes tactically. I have never been a truely floating voter who decides on the day.

Perhaps people should take some time to really read what different parties are planning for our and country and decide if what they read, suits the ideas they have for the society they want.

But if you live in a town like mine Nelliemoser there really is no point. It is and has always been labour. Massive majority. All stems from ex mining, ship building and heavy industry. Now it is pretty much all public sector as very few private enterprises.

The problem with no opposition is that the complacent labour council need do nothing and still get voted in.

As i said on another post earlier, today is the 104 th anniversRy since emily davidson jumped in front of the kings horse in order that women get the right to vote. whether the result is as we would wish is another thing but it is democracy as we know it.

There is always a point in voting gb. despite living in a very poor outer london aRea it consistently votes conservative, so i too always vote for the party which comes second. But i vote anyway, given the efforts and pain which went into getting womens votes. I understand unless i am corrected that in the 1960's women in switzerland still couldnt vote,

I do always vote silverlining48 and tend to just pick anyone else other than the labour candidate. Unless we have an effective opposition our town will never move into the 21st century.

I fully appreciate that there will be areas in the country who have the exact opposite and have a permanent Tory council with a huge majority.

Here we are the day after, and the media just can't cope. Teresa May has lost her majority and the question is, wil she resign or not.
The latest I have heard she is going to rely on the DUP to support her. After all that screaming from the Mail & Sun about Labour and terrorists, will they cover the DUP's actions in the troubles. No I thought not.
I am so pleased with the result, lots of the PLP are now saying sorry to Jeremy for underestimating him.

Oh yes DUP and their support of the killers. How are the media going to explain that away!

The blame lies with the people that could not accept a democratic vote to leave the EU. Yes, if you think about it rationally, you have nearly brought our country to it's knees but yet again you have not won.

And let's face it you were also willing to vote for someone whom his own party couldn't stand a few months ago and now he's being seen as some sort of messiah.

So it's all a bit hypocritical to think that May cannot do the same isn't it. The difference is I believe in May and am not a flip-flopper.

Hung parliament- TM on the skids - discontented Tories. Depending on DUP to prop them up until they topple.

No it won't last long mcem. We will soon be in Brexit talks as planned. Hopefully Nigel Ferrage will come out of retirement.

Did you really believe that Labour would put all they stated in their manifesto in place and not back-track? If labour got in and did this we would definitely have imploded. We would also have looked like complete tossers in EU negotiations.

Yes I did. It was all costed. And why wouldn't I believe someone who has stuck by his principles before?
I regret they won't have the chance and we will be depending on the Conservative AND UNIONIST party to produce even more austerity.
It won't last long though, there will be yet another election come the autumn.
