Irrational panic!!!

Do you find that you do run out of things because you haven't had to buy them for so long you forget? Nearly ran out of tabasco last week and in tnis house that is a disaster - there is always 3 or 4 bottles there, what happened?

Never run out of wine ??

Oh dear! after reading some of the posts I think I need to restock. ?

Oh dear! Afraid I am guilty of panic if my Sky box goes lower than 50% !!! Heavens knows why ! It would take hours of recording to get to nil, but there I go, diligently making sure I stay at or above 60% free all the time!

I thought it was only me!!!

About labelling, some of my dry goods, rice, pasta, lentils I keep in large Kilner jars and I have learnt to buy paper stick on labels which I fill in when I open a pack and put the contents in a jar.
WH Smith does some lovely reasonable stick on labels, which can take several lines of entries..

Another forty-niner here, must have been a good year. To my horror I once ran out of toilet rolls, never will again! You have to stock up when there are good offers on, we did once have to keep spares in the box-room.

If a disaster movie plot happened, but if I could keep my freezer running miraculously. I could probably last without shopping for.....Oh about two years. Brought up by gran, born in the sixties and I love offers and even recycle old clothes into quilts etc

I start to panic when its starts gong below 50% which is madness and I always have more than one tin in stock

I did hear of a lady who was a keen baker and had a big freezer well stocked with pies, quiche, sausage rolls, cakes, scones, deserts etc when she died.

Her daughters discovered this amazing stock when they were planning the funeral and decided to serve it all up at the wake.

She was a popular old lady with many friends and acquaintances who came to the wake and several remarked on the delicious spread. One or two asked Who made this delicious quiche/pie/tart/cake? and there were some funny reactions to the answer, but what better for a good send-off?

I am a 1948er. I don't think I am too bad about hoarding food. Such things I buy in bulk tend to be our food staples. Tinned tomatoes. Asda mushy peas as all other brands colour theirs.
OH is the hoarder in our house and not just with food. The older style energy saving light bulbs which were really dreadful at first still up there. Boxes of those dirt cheap biros which are really rubbish.
He also stock piled Green's Carmelle dessert mixes because the shops were once out of stock.

I do always look in the short dated shelves and tend to have quite a stock pile of quiches in the freezer.
Bargain price raspberries, frozen to use in ice cream.

When we cleared out my parents house there were about 74 unused tea towels. I have given some of them to my children and possibly still have some stashed away in the loft. Apart from tea towels my mum tended to be a rather mean very frugal shopper.
