I once nearly caused an incident at our local polling station by insisting that they'd missed a candidate off the list. Somehow (and I still can't imagine how), an old leaflet from the previous local election campaign had ended up on the hall table with the others. Of course that was the one I'd decided to vote for...

I agree totally with quizqueen. I'm disappointed with some of the flippant comments. It's an important general election. Even though I don't agree with some of the leaflets the least I can do is read them.

I've had two communications from Mrs May addressed to me personally and using my name several times. I live in a marginal. Smart stationery too.

So as I threw them in the recycling I said to her, Well Theresa I'm going to consign you to Room 101.

The only personal letter I have had was from Labour, all it did was castigate Lib Dems. It went in the bin. I am not a Lib Dem!

We both had a personal letter from Mrs. May inviting us to use our postal vote for our local Conservative candidate. In the same post there was a flyer from the LibDems.

Unfortunately, the voting card that came to tell us our postal votes would arrive about the 22nd were wrong. They arrived last week and were filled in and returned the same day.

All three bits went in the recycling bin. Waste of paper and money.

The LibDems only pretending to stand. They'll roll over and forget they are LibDems once the Tories invite them to a coalition!

I have had the personalized letter from local MP & Mrs May. Personalized letter from LibDem candidate also leaflet from LibDems. Think they will be pressing hard here (West Country) as Devon/Cornwall used too be very yellow.

My Constituancy is true blue, saying round here is "if you put a pig in a blue rosette up, everybody would vote for it".

I do read leaflets & then they all go in the re-cycling

No point any of the other parties canvassing round here. Also I do a postal vote so most leaflets arrive too late

i had a letter from the libdem candidate in my constituency and, the following day, a letter from mrs may herself. both were addressed to me by name which surprised me somewhat.
i've also had leaflets from the parties - libdem and conservative but labour haven't put in an appearance.
the leaflets and the letters were consigned to the bin.

Quizqueen - should have said that I read all the leaflets except SNP as I know what their only interest is all too well.

Over the past 2 weeks my husband has received two (identical)'personal' and 'signed' letters from Theresa May in the body of which his Christian name was used 3 times. AIBU to feel rejected and a bit miffed, since it is I who deals with all paperwork in our house only requiring him to sign where necessary.

My DD called at mine last Sunday afternoon while I was out. She opened the door to a group of canvassers and said "I don't live here, my mum is out"

The note she left for me was;

Hi Mum

Just to let you know that while you were out the conservatory people came round. I said you didn't have room.

It is quite amazing the amount of virtue signalling Labour and LibDem supporters find it essential to live in nice, law abiding, well ordered Conservative Boroughs. I know of three ultra left families who moved house from Labour areas to very Conservative Boroughs (huge majorities) to take advantage of the schools and the general superiority of the quality of life. Once there, they all set about vociferously campaigning for Labour and complaining about the fact that their neighbours were (rinse my mouth out) Tories.

To paraphrase, theirs were the only red posters in the village.

As someone who has spent hours over the years trudging round my constituency hand delivering leaflets (which have been paid for with my party's very little resources)to try and inform potential voters, the least people can do is glance at them and then put them in the recycling bin if they have no interest in trying to shape the future of their country by being informed of policies both national and local.

Every Political Party is also entitled to a post office delivered Election Address. The postage is paid for by your taxes although the printing of the leaflet is Party funded.

Maybe if more people showed an interest in politics they might get the political parties and country they desire.

We've had Labour and Conservative. Angus Robertson (SNP) dropped onto the mat the other day so I tore him up and put him in the recycling. Wish I'd thought of sending him back to HQ Paddyann!!

I had a leaflet for Dominos pizza, and have left it in the hall because I know the kids will vote for it at some point.......

Even the Greens put useless crap through the letter box they really ought to know better, I hate waste, I won't even have the parish magazine here now I can see it online.

There is ample on TV, radio and onliine to bore us all to death with lies before the election and the thrill of seeing all the lies failing to deliver afterwards. Money to burn as ususal at the root of the problem.

No leaflets through my door..it is a bit tricky to find..but they will come. I leaflet for a political party. I also have a poster up but on my back fence facing all the London commuters on the station platform! Not been defaced, dissolved or crumpled!

As nightowl said, people are giving up their free time to deliver these leaflets.

OK, many of mine get binned PDQ but I do note which parties make the effort to leaflet.

People with strong views are giving up their time to push these leaflets through doors. It's not exactly a new campaigning tactic is it so I'm not sure why it would make anyone annoyed

I had a conservative leaflet through my door yesterday. It said 'Theresa May is the only person who can deliver for (name of constituency)'. This I did find strange, as I wasn't aware she was standing for election here. As an apparent afterthought there was a photo of the Tory candidate holding Theresa's hand and looking suitably honoured. I just found it quite amusing, if not a bit desperate.

Someone rang from the Labour party last night, DH took the call and they asked for me but he told them I didn't want to talk to them. Cheek, since when did he speak for me ?
