I hope I shall never be on Death Row - but we have holidays in the USA and I have come close to really, really losing my temper and they do leave guns laying around in the back of trucks, so ... I don't think I'd go for anything fancy, more for comfort food. In my case mashed potatoes with lashings of butter and crispy bacon.
(And yes, this thread is a little bit tongue in check bad taste, but some of the worst blackest humour I've heard was in the happy hospice where MiL died)
Bet you wish you hadn't bothered Daddima, anyone would think this was a discussion forum. People will be reluctant to post at all the way some people go on!
I think choices are limited for those on death row in America. I think capital punishment is swift for those convicted of capital crime in places such as Saudi Arabia, so lunch is not on the menu. Discussing food choices for those about to be hanged, injected with apparently painful poisons or beheaded is distasteful in the extreme.
I can't bear to even think about this, I could never kill someone and so I would never be on death row, any way we don't have death row in England, no death penalty. As someone else on here said "not a very nice thread", game or not.
My God. The USA actually do offer those they are about to execute a last meal. Probably after keeping them of death row for years. Some of these US states are truly barbaric.
I think mine would be chicken tikka off the bone followed by paneer and spinach curry with garlic naan from my favourite curry house, but perhaps not if it's breakfast time.
So much sad and bad news in the world right now and I'd like to think that the OP started this thread as a bit of light relief and fun - at least, that's how I took it. If you find that this thread, and others like it, offend your sensibilities, why not just close the thread and move on to something more suited to your taste? Loads of other, more serious threads to choose from, if that's your bag.
This is supposed to be a light hearted thread, if you don't agree with it, why even bother making a comment? If I'm nervous I can't eat at all, so my choice of last meal would be fresh air!
Makes me think of Blackadder- "They can have anything they like, as long as it's sausages. I can only cook sausages."
I would just want my mum's apple and blackberry pie and maybe my nana's treacle and currant tart. It would be a bit of a challenge, as mum died more than 20 years ago and nana has been dead for 50 years.
Sorry I know it is just a fun game but it makes me scared thinking of the whole scenario and what happens to maybe innocent people in the US and other parts of the world.
Maybe we could think what would be our last meal if we were going to live on the moon......
I don't know why people are getting so nasty about this thread. Lighten up! If the OP wanted to post this then that is up to her. You don't have to read it or respond.
I once saw a (Sunday supplement) article about the actual choices of men in that situation. They were very simple, probably foods they'd enjoyed at home as children. Very saddening to read.
Lovely as all these meals sound - I believe there is a cost limit set by US prisons so many wouldn't be possible! I don't actually have a favourite meal - just love food
Cod and chips from the chip shop, bread and real butter.. Chocolate cake and ice cream. To be eaten without feeling guilty or worried about the weight I might put on or the health consequences of all that cholesterol etc.
