Last year I asked for thoughts on someone my age (66) buying a narrow boat to live on. I had lots of interesting replies. So the update... I am in the process of buying a lovely boat. She was the eighth of the ten I looked at in real life. I did look at hundreds online though. I felt at home as soon as I got on her. So I will be living on her from early June if everything keeps on track. The downsizing is stressful though. Detaching myself mentally from a couple of lovely pieces of furniture was difficult. Charity shops have done well with clothes...hahaha I have secured a residential mooring in a lovely marina (residential means I will have a post box). My home will be 57ft by 6ft 10ins. It will take a bit of getting used to but I am looking forward to cruising on the local rivers and maybe beyond once I retire. I want to thank everyone who encouraged me and gave advice I don't want to look back and wonder what it would have been like. So I will say to everyone...if you have a dream go for it. Don't look back and wonder...what if. Follow that dream xxx
