I need a kick up the bum!

My DGD left yesterday after a week's visit, hence I've done no brisk walking, usually 1-2 hours daily. I just can't summon up the energy to squeeze into my Sweaty Betty's and go out.

My usual partner in crime is away and although I often walk alone I do find it boring. The sky's a bit grey but no rain forecast so no excuse really. I might have a cup of tea and think things over!

Anyone been outside yet?

My day started off slow too then quickly speeded up upon receipt of text requesting my presence at GD's cake sale in local park so walked there, ate cake, walked back (3 miles in total). Other GD wanted to help me in the garden so spent some time transplanting seedlings and moving troughs to my plastic 'greenhouse' and weeding. Had just sat down to watch News and then heard about serious frost here tonight, so back outside pinning extra bubble wrap and fleece around tender seedling and plantlets. Now I'm the one feeling tender, well shattered really. An early night on the cards I think, Night All.

Ooh, sorry, that sounds pessimistic, I'm sure the sunshine will be out soon and make you feel much better much more quickly

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Apr-17 20:12:31

Fingers and toes crossed, I only just seem to have got over the cold and cough I had in January.

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Apr-17 20:11:49

tomorrow is another day

DH asked if I was going to do some washing this morning.
Certainly not!!! It's Bank Holiday!

We've had a lovely family day too. No long walks though, unless you count the indoor egg hunt (the garden was too wet). Just DD1 here now and the tiddlers are long gone. I might get round to clearing the devastated buffet and the toy-strewn floor before Broadchurch. Or I might not. grin

What is it with chest infections, coughs and colds that persist for weeks? I hope Jane and bellanonna that you soon feel better.
I've just sat down to listen to the Archers. We had a family day which has been lovely if exhausting, long walks and feeding a gang plus dogs and toddlers. I'm going to stay awake for Broadchurch !

Bellanonna Mon 17-Apr-17 18:49:45

Thanks Jane, you too!

janeainsworth Mon 17-Apr-17 18:39:41

Oh dear! Get well soon bellanonna!

Bellanonna Mon 17-Apr-17 18:20:53

Me too Janea. I'm into week three of a chest infection. My legs are like jelly and I wonder how I got through entertaining both families yesterday. I've stayed in today and I've cancelled tomorrow's plans. Hope we both feel better soon!

janeainsworth Mon 17-Apr-17 18:17:05

Thank you jalima. It's not like me really so feeling very frustrated!

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Apr-17 17:57:24

Stay warm janea and watch others doing the gardening through the window. Apparently it is colder than it was at Christmas.
I hope you feel better soon.

janeainsworth Mon 17-Apr-17 17:53:58

That's awful glammashock I didn't know you'd moved - I hope you've settled in well smile

Well I've been poorly for the last 5 days sneezing & coughing up lots of nasty substance and feeling dreadful. The NHS advice is to not plague your doctor, pull yourself together & get over it.
So my outdoor activities today have been limited to conferring with my gardener about what needed doing in the garden.
I fear it will be some time before I feel like putting on my Sweaty Bettys again sad

DH insisted he was perfectly capable of putting together his new shed (8'x6') so I enlisted the help of a muscly young neighbour (otherwise it would have been muggins press ganged into helping him!). The firm did take it into the back garden though.
I hope you can drag him away from his new shed after it goes up glammanana hmm

glammanana Mon 17-Apr-17 17:30:41

Riverwalk Physical nightmare here this afternoon,we had ordered a shed to be delivered by Homebase and it arrived this afternoon at our new bungalow, hubby there to open the side gate for them to take around the back and they informed him they had to just drop in front garden and go as they where running late,so we have been finding whereabouts of two of our big DGs to take into the back garden so I am no at all happy with their delivery service, how would they expect a 72yr old man to lift the parts of an 8 x 6 shed.

I managed to move my sorry backside off the sofa - eventually! Walked around NT garden and house and then popped into a country pub for a swift half. Exhausted now grin

We have been painting DD's new flat all day, and we walked there. All of 5 minutes away. Got driven home though. After dinner I'll have a long soak in readiness for some quality TV time watching Broadchurch. And eating Easter Eggs. Been a good day.

LadyGracie Mon 17-Apr-17 15:49:45

I've done 2 hours of ironing, now having chocolate ice lolly!

shysal Mon 17-Apr-17 15:43:54

hildahenniJ, What is that coloured structure in your garden? Does it move in the wind? It is very pretty!

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Apr-17 15:38:36

It's Thornton's so somewhere in between milk and plain I think. Whatever it was, it hit the spot.

I think the neighbours are all hibernating today, very sensible.
The half barrels always look very attractive, we had some for years.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 17-Apr-17 15:28:26

It's the milk Jalima. I think there is some that is a possible but I am happier not to risk it. I think plain chocolate is particularly good for you generally so if you have only had the milk variety perhaps you should be looking out for some plain too smile

If you did a crocodile style walk I think you could be very popular (on a dry day). If you made the walk circular you could pick up and drop off very easily.

I lifted the half barrels so even more exercise! (I might have found it difficult to straighten up if I had rolled them) Not sure it was a very good lift though and I did park the car as close as I could to where they were going smile

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Apr-17 15:14:31

Isn't chocolate good for you though GGMK2? I thought it contained flavanols or something, well it's a good excuse as I ate some this morning because I was frustrated with the printer which wouldn't print.

I used to see the mums take turns to walk a crocodile of children to school, I would do the same and collect up some adults to walk but it's raining.

Are you walking with the half barrels or rolling them?

GracesGranMK2 Mon 17-Apr-17 15:07:56

Err ... most people use a bathroom hilda grin I have just come back from my mother's and she is was having a grumpy day for some reason - so I am indulging in wine gums (no chocolate for me so I don't feel guilty). Gardening - I bought a couple of half barrels; walking - round the supermarket next to the DIY shop with the half barrels and I am telling myself that I had such a busy week last week that I deserve a rest.

Why are there not 'people walkers'. A quick trip round picking each of say eight people on the way and you could walk people like dog walkers walk dogs. It would have to be a reasonable price for me but older people need (well I do) some one to motivate them smile

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Apr-17 14:40:06

I like those rocks, now those are what I call rocks!

hildajenniJ Mon 17-Apr-17 14:36:50

Just for a walk around the garden, (and it's not very big). I need to go round again with a poo bag grin, and I went to get a photo of this to send to my DD.
