I have half a dozen already in class jars in a cupboard with an other 2 dozen in boxes, a couple of bags of t lights, 2 lighters and 2 boxes of matches, and a collection of lanterns and torches as even in the summer we loose power. I have small smelly candle in a jar that has been burning every night for the last 5 nights at least 4 hours per night and its still going, it was a bargain at a £1 from poundland, their starlyte t lights last a whole evening as well.

And here - all the shops ran out of candles a few years ago when there was a long power cut due to a storm.
We even bought a petrol powered generator, for the freezers.

I know exactly where all are candles are, and the matches, have to because we have regular 'being cast into the outer darkness' moments here.

It does seem to be hit or miss as to whether kneeling is an option Ann. But if not being able to clear out that cupboard is the price I have to pay for my nice new wonderfully straight knee well, I'll just have to cope! I'll have to wait until DD2 is here as I daren't ask DH after the remarks I've made about his shed! I wonder if she'd like some candles.

(I walked a to the shop yesterday and realised my knees weren't hitting each other any more! Clips out tomorrow. A bit nervous!)

Nfkdumpling it is almost 8 months since I had my new knee and I can't even attempt to kneel.
I think some people never can and I truly believe I am one of them.

we took the electric light away in our dining room and replaced it with a hanging candelabra that takes ten tapers, its lovely ,very relaxing and we often sit around the table for hours just because the atmosphere is so nice. Then there are jar candles in the sitting room and kitchen and votives in the bathrooms ,used to buy a lot of yankee candles but now I'm not keen on some of the scents so I buy locally made ones which seem more authentic smells .I buy t-lights in B and Q in boxes of 200 for about £6 great value for money

I'd like to tell you, I know there's several. But they're all in the bottom cupboard with all the Oasis and flower arranging stuff and it's a bit of a mess and goes back a long way. I know there's a bag of tea lights - probably 30 or 40, and I know there's a miscellaneous ice cream box of half burnt ones at the front - with some fuse wire which looks pre-war. But I have a feeling that at the back there should be a box of four white ones which I bought along with the two large church candles at Christmas for decorations.

I really must sort it. Top of the list when I can kneel again. Honest!

I don't need to count mine to know I've got too many! Taillights, votives, jars not to mention dozens of battery ones - what can I say - I like candlelight grin

Just had a quick count up - 48! In my defence where I live the power goes off in the slightest breeze so having a supply of candles is a way of life!

My spare candles are all in boxes in the 'meter' cupboard thankfully they haven't seen the light of day for a long time. There's a box of 12 long ones, a box with 48 tealights minus the ones I used at Christmas and a box of 6 long red candles I bought for those long romantic dinners OH and I were going to cook for each othergrin I wonder why there are still 6 in the box confusedblush

One of my emails this morning, was from John Lewis, re spring cleaning. So, having an hour or so to myself, I decided to clear out a couple of cupboards. Am I a hoarder? Well I found 1x box of 12 candles, with a price sticker of .78p, from a shop long gone from our town. Plus 1x box of 16 candles, + 3 partially burned candles, + 25 tea lights. Then there were 3 more in the bathroom and loos. Total 69. Am I expecting a power cut? if so I can supply the neighbourhood.
I don't think I am doing any more searching this morning.
