Hope the antibiotics are kicking in this morning.

Oh dear, hopehope, horrid thing to be dealing with. My dentist recommended ibuprofen with a glass of wine to aid sleep. Not sure it's an official approach but it does seem to help. Tooth problems are miserable, hoping it settles today as the antibiotics take effect.

Poor you Hopehope. I have been lucky with my teeth till recently when some have started to remind me how old they are! A few years back I broke one and had to have a crown. Then I had to have a 'one tooth' denture which I absolutely hated!! This was replaced by a bridge which I could ill afford but was a great relief!

I dread the denture stage and like you feel down at the thought. My mother had all her teeth removed and replaced with dentures which seemed to be the 'fashion' at that time. I was almost phobic about that pink plastic when she took them out and still am traumatised about the time I had to take them to a technician when a tooth broke off. It was cheaper for me to take them as I was half fare on the bus but I insisted on them being placed in the bottom of a large carrier bag. I had to hand the technician the bag as I could not touch them.

I hope that your pain and swelling soon subside and that things work out for you. From babies in pain cutting teeth, through losing baby teeth, to pain and crumbling in old age teeth surely have the most design faults! There is a fortune to be made for someone who can genetically engineer new ones.

Good luck.

I am feeling sorry for myself. Mouth was a little sore yesterday, last night throbbing like mad in bed. When I got up this morning it wasn't TOO bad, but by lunchtime face swollen.

I called the Dentist, was told mine is away all week as his Dad is very poorly, but they got me in with a very nice Lady Dentist, so I have some antibiotics now. I can't wait for them to kick in, one side of my face is very swollen, and hurts like hell. I can't smile, my lips are all lopsided like I had a stroke.

The crux of it is my teeth at the top are not good, well it is the gums really so some of the teeth are a bit unstable, I have a bridge too and a crown over the years. Dentist has been warning me that I will probably have to have them out and end up with a full denture on the top. I can see now that after this heals up I will have to get brave and have this done.

I usually am the sort to just get on with things, but I feel really quite down about this. Feel like I am like an old car with bits dropping off the bodywork!, and as my car went to the scrapyard in January that isn't a great feeling.

Am going to get a couple of ibuprofen and a couple of paracetemol now and try to ignore the pain and get some sleep.
