Expensive, but worth it, purchases?

I love my Vitamix.

I love my I pad mini, use it all day long. Portable for moving around our home and small so can pop it in my bag. I chat to family on face time. Play word games and use difftent apps. The camera is just what I need for instant snaps and video.

A Dyson fan is ideal for a conservatory but do bear in mind it is just moving warm air around if it is very warm. Air conditioning unit might be a better alternative.

I'm not a gadget person but I love my knives,I've got two sets one Sabatiers that I've had for 25 years and a fab set of Global knives that I collected over a few years ...wouldn't dare work out what I spent on them but several hundred pound at least.I use my knives every day so well worth the money and they'll last my lifetime at least

My old Dyson vacuum cleaner only just gave up after 20 years and, when the flexible hose split they sent me another one free of charge.

I would love to have a Thermomix (DD has one) but I have so many other gadgets that are not that old I can't justify the expense.

A pair of Gucci court shoes - bought in 1971 for two week's wages. Madness. They lasted nearly 20 yrs. Re soled and reheeled a few times. The most comfortable, smart and fabulously wonderful shoes ever. Not obviously Gucci. I have now idea how often I wore them - I lived in them. Just the best investment ever. It was like a bereavement the day I realised they just had to go.

My second-top of the range Magimix. I bought it when my Kenwood food processor went up in smoke! It's tough and reliable, mixes, slices and shreds in seconds. And it doesn't take up too much kitchen space.

Luxury-wise, when I found I had some extra cash to burn I invested in Jo Malone Pomegranate Noire scent and love it to bits!

As some of you know already, I got my Dyson Supersonic hairdryer as soon as they were released onto the market (Sept 2016). I love it, and as far as I'm concerned, it's worth every penny. I wash and style my hair every morning, so I get plenty of use from it!
We have two Dyson fans, one upstairs, one down, they're very quiet.
I use Gtech vacuum cleaners, both the Air Ram and the Multi, and am just a bit cross that I didn't get the car kit free, as I bought the Air Ram when it first appeared, and the same with the Multi. I do think they should be a little more fair with their long time, loyal customers. I also have the Gtech cordless strimmer, which again is very, very good.
As DH and I both have knee problems, we splashed out and bought ourselves two riser/recliner chairs and a matching recliner sofa from HSL, we did a lot of thinking about that purchase, as it was an awful lot of money. However, for the first time in years we can both sit comfortably and more or less pain free to watch TV, read, snooze, whatever!
I have broken both my feet several times over the years, so wear Rieker or Rohde shoes, Merrell's trainers and walking boots, but Skechers are good for everyday wandering about!
I have a Neff 'slide and hide' oven and induction hob, Kenwood Chef, inherited from my DM, (it's been fully refurbished), Global knives, Dualit toaster, Quooker boiling water tap (incredibly useful), Le Creuset casserole dishes, Microplane graters, but I love to cook, so I use them all frequently!
We only have one child and one grandchild, so we bought DGS's car seat, pram body, chassis, stroller seat, changing bag and footmuff all from Cybex. Expensive, but strong, luxurious for a little person, and plenty of wonderful features. We've just ordered his next car seat as he's growing really fast!
I should point out that I worked full time for thirty eight years, didn't always have money to spare, our holidays used to be in caravans in N. Wales, I don't smoke (gave up over twenty five years ago), hardly drink, apart from a very occasional Irish Whisky, rarely go out to eat, we prefer to stay home.
The way I see it, there are no pockets in shrouds, you can't take it with you, and it's made round to go round! If you want something, can afford it without struggling or going into debt, why not have it?
My DF died at the age of 61, not even getting to retire from work, so I'm enjoying my money now, just in case!

Always wanted Louboutins ; never be able to afford them or walk sensibly in them. Sometimes it's just enough to covet something from afar-SIGHS!!!!!

I am a total gadget freak. I have a Delonghi bean-to-cup coffee maker and I use it every day for cappucchino, latte and espresso coffee, as I don't drink tea. I have a Morphy Richards Intellisteam, which is programmable, so everything can be put in at once and the individual compartments come on at different time, so it's all ready at the same time. I'm actually on my second now, as I've had it for years. I will confess to having a robot vacuum cleaner (called Felix). I just shut it in a room and leave it to get on with things. I also have a Rollie for cooking eggs - it was just for the hilarity factor, but actually the eggs taste good. It does have its own youtube videos, which are great fun.

I also confess to having a Kirby vacuum, which I bought from new. It was incredibly expensive and at the time I had no carpets but I wanted it. I have used it and the accessories frequently!

I have a Waring Blender , Sabatier & Heinkel kitchen knives all courtesy of DH (he worked for a company supplying kitchen equipment) also Le Creuset Casserole dish.

When we moved we bought quite a lot of new furniture, best buy was 2 x 2 seater settees from M&S, I only have one now (small home) but DD has the other one. I've still got all the rest of the new furniture, money well spent.

My extravagances are 2 jewellery purchases, a beautiful Ted Baker watch & a 2nd Eternity ring bought after DH died. I had lost some weight & was in danger of losing my Wedding ring & Eternity ring so I now have one in a smaller size which keeps them on my finger

Nespresso machine. Kindle paper white. Got a lot of use out of both

I have been saving up to buy the cordless dyson I know it's expensive but i know it will be easier for me to use. My daughter has one and she recommended it to me. I also have an iPad but was a present from h. Have got a karcher window cleaner which was in a sale and I recommend that too, easy for doing the windows.

My indulgence was a Creenstone padded coat ... Bought at least 10 years ago. The best £300 spent ever. It's lightweight, deliciously warm, looks like new and yet still stylish and fits like a glove. I think these coats are made in Denmark.

Oh and my favourite perfume and Clarins Beauty Flash.

It's good comfortable shoes for me. When looking at anything expensive my dear old mum would say, "it's worth it if you wear it" which is true.
At my last house I bought some lined linen curtains at a price which horrified me but I bought them because I loved them. When I moved house I naturally brought them with me and they fit the two bedroom windows perfectly.

I bought a dyson cordless on the recommendation of all my daughters and find it so handy...vacuum much more regularly. The only snag is that the cords on other electrical equipment suddenly become very irritating, though they have never bothered me before!

I've rarely regretted things I've bought but often regretted not buying something...

The best advice I was ever given was to spend as much as you can afford on bras, shoes and mattresses as your life is spent either in or on them. Has served me well.

The motor on our Dyson burnt out several times, but their customer service couldn't have been beaten. Each time the motor was replaced, with no problems whatsoever, and their guarantee lasts for 5 years.

I love my Sketchers. They cost approximately £55, but look just like a pair of pumps. They're so light to wear, you feel like you're walking on air. Definitely worth the price, in my opinion.

Also, love my Dualit 4-slice toaster. Like the original poster, it was a prize that I won several years ago. Would never have justified the £200 cost. But if it broke I would definitely replace.

I have always wanted a Cath Kidston handbag and a Pandora bracelet, but as a single mum on a budget, could really justify either. I spent my Christmas money from my parents in the Cath Kidston sale (also converted my daughter and she bought bags for her and DGD no 1) As I was ill before Christmas and was off work , I used the money that I didn't spend on travelling to work etc to buy a Pandora bracelet, some charms and a Cath Kidston shopping bag on Ebay (though my daughter has paid for the 'Mum' charm for Mother's Day) and spent under £100 - I just have to resist the temptation to keep buying charms...

I loved Juggernauts post about no pockets in shrouds....we have both worked hard and about to retire so we have decided to spend it...have iPad pros Best Buy yet..dyson cordless fantastic home is spotless as we use it each day..each got a new car this year... but the icing on the cake is the Stanley cara stove we had fitted in our sitting room .....burns logs Turf and coal...heats 20 rads...room is so cosy...oil bill is about a third of what it was..lovely welcoming sitting room...best 2000 we have ever spent...highly recommended.

A pair of turquoise sandals with VERY high heels. I liked them so much a friend said "you can't walk out of this shop without them". I've never worn them but each time I open my wardrobe there they are and for twenty years I have had this fantasy......
