Expensive, but worth it, purchases?

I have the Dyson hairdryer and I agree with Hummingbird. It is light (ish) and very easy to handle, but that's about it. Ridiculous price for dry hair. I was very disappointed to find it didn't a) dry my hair any faster b)dry it smooth
I still have to use my Babyliss hot air brush. Now THAT IS a good tool. I am on my second one, and if this one breaks I will keep on buying them until they stop making them!

My Dyson pedestal fan an arrived yesterday, it is lovely and quiet. After I had ordered it, and it was in transit from Dyson, a Groupon advert popped up on my computer screen selling them at £50 off! DD uses them all the time, I should have thought to check their price. Everyone else's were the same as manufacturer and I couldn't access the link somebody gave for 10% off.

I love my BernIna too, want it bringing downstairs and it is too heavy for me or Mr M to carry, so son is going to bring it downstairs, I do love him but hope he doesn't drop it and put that love to the test.

This is my second post because I had forgotten my Bernina sewing machine. I got it for my birthday 20 years ago and its still going strong. I love the way it sews a straight seam and is so quiet.

River Totally agree re Sweaty Betty. I have some lovely tennis things from them and I decided a few weeks ago that I had to have a pair of zero gravity bum-sculpting leggings
Looked online & they didn't have my size, so I emailed & asked them to email me when in stock. They replied that they would do a search for me and two days later Lauren from the Leeds store rang me and said she had a pair in the shop. Purchase completed over the phoine and the next day they arrived. They are fab and I've never had such good customer service.

I have very narrow feet and for years wore cheap shoes that became boats on my feet within days of wearing them. I now know that is false economy and I treat myself to proper fitting shoes twice a year from James Inglis in Peebles or Medissa shoes in Leeds who both specialise in narrow footwear.

I would really love a Bernina and currently thinking I might treat myself

About 20 years ago I bought a beautiful steel grey MaxMara winter coat - it cost a fortune and I loved it! I wore it for at least seven years, then it languished in the wardrobe for a while, now my DIL has it, so well worth the money.

Last year I bought Sweaty Betty outdoor wear - leggings, tops & hoodie in bright gaudy colours. They are worn at least 5 days a week for my river/city walks. I'm just about to squash my ample mounds into them and do a two-hour walk in the beautiful London sunshine

Hello Mistyfluff8 I have a Dyson 360 eye and it's the best gadget I've ever had! I just press the button and leave it to do its magic and I can get on with other things! I can track how it's getting on with an app on my mobile phone when I'm in another room. When it's finished I just go back into the room and hey presto the carpet is spotless! It's a wonderful intention! I would throughly recommend it but it's very expensive. My family clubbed together and gave me it for my birthday. I've got medical issues and it helps me enormously . Thank you Dyson!

My huge bird in my garden - its a crane and must be over 6ft. Hand made in Africa. I saw a similar one in a shop a couple of years ago which was already sold, and obsessed about it for ages! Last summer a friend messaged me from a Craft Fair with a picture - just what I wanted...went to the Fair next day but they had sold out, so I had to order one and wait ages for delivery - but it was worth it - it now stands proudly in the garden and I can see it from my computer and from my bedroom when I open the curtains in the morning. Pure indulgence! Couldn't care less about household gadgets, as long as they do their job.

Would love a robotic vacuum cleaner anybody got one ? I have a Miele but finding it a bit heavy due to arthritis .Lookinng at silver earrings as a lot of earrings now are lovely colours but are gold plated .Love my Ugg boots and Clarins face and Eco creams

I loved Juggernauts post about no pockets in shrouds....we have both worked hard and about to retire so we have decided to spend it...have iPad pros Best Buy yet..dyson cordless fantastic home is spotless as we use it each day..each got a new car this year... but the icing on the cake is the Stanley cara stove we had fitted in our sitting room .....burns logs Turf and coal...heats 20 rads...room is so cosy...oil bill is about a third of what it was..lovely welcoming sitting room...best 2000 we have ever spent...highly recommended.

I have always wanted a Cath Kidston handbag and a Pandora bracelet, but as a single mum on a budget, could really justify either. I spent my Christmas money from my parents in the Cath Kidston sale (also converted my daughter and she bought bags for her and DGD no 1) As I was ill before Christmas and was off work , I used the money that I didn't spend on travelling to work etc to buy a Pandora bracelet, some charms and a Cath Kidston shopping bag on Ebay (though my daughter has paid for the 'Mum' charm for Mother's Day) and spent under £100 - I just have to resist the temptation to keep buying charms...

The motor on our Dyson burnt out several times, but their customer service couldn't have been beaten. Each time the motor was replaced, with no problems whatsoever, and their guarantee lasts for 5 years.

I love my Sketchers. They cost approximately £55, but look just like a pair of pumps. They're so light to wear, you feel like you're walking on air. Definitely worth the price, in my opinion.

Also, love my Dualit 4-slice toaster. Like the original poster, it was a prize that I won several years ago. Would never have justified the £200 cost. But if it broke I would definitely replace.

The best advice I was ever given was to spend as much as you can afford on bras, shoes and mattresses as your life is spent either in or on them. Has served me well.

I bought a dyson cordless on the recommendation of all my daughters and find it so handy...vacuum much more regularly. The only snag is that the cords on other electrical equipment suddenly become very irritating, though they have never bothered me before!

It's good comfortable shoes for me. When looking at anything expensive my dear old mum would say, "it's worth it if you wear it" which is true.
At my last house I bought some lined linen curtains at a price which horrified me but I bought them because I loved them. When I moved house I naturally brought them with me and they fit the two bedroom windows perfectly.
