Why not cover the bed with the duvet during the day, then the bedroom still looks good, and for the night, roll it up and stash on a chair, leaving him with a sheet and you with a single duvet?

Even better have two rooms! I like a cosy bedroom whilst DH likes cool so we each have our own room and he turns the thermostat in his right down whilst mine is set to my liking. The duvets, the same. I have never slept better in 52 years of marriage since we took to this system! (He does have visiting rights!)

DH used to roll over in the night and roll himself up in the duvet leaving me with nothing - so we had separate single duvets for over 20years. However after I injured my knee I cannot stand the weight of a duvet and longer so use a lightweight fleece blanket while he still has the duvet.

If it is the look of the room that bothers you - you could get a quilt or bedspread. However most important is that everyone feels comfortable

Do as they do in Scandinavian countries and have two single duvets, folded lengthways on the bed they look tidy..... but instead of duvet in his cover use it on its own or insert another light sheet or blanket, whatever weight he likes

Why not have 2 duvet covers - you under one (complete with duvet ) him laying on top of that but with another duvet covering him.

I'm the hot one in our bed so we have single duvets with different tog values. If we get a hot summer I usually remove my duvet and just have the duvet cover over me whilst the husband snuggles into his 7.5tog or whatever!
Added bonus is that there's no duvet stealing in the night anymore.

My husband needs less togs than me so this duvet talk is great to know about. He sticks his feet out and his shoulders so is quite happy to have a rather warm duvet. When he is not there I wear bedsocks and a wool scarf.

This means I am always happy to see him arrive back from a visit away and he his happy to feel he is needed!!

IO just put an extra blanket on my side of our king sized bed. He doesn't have to come near me unless he wants to...

My problem is not being cosy in bed. It is when the air in the bedroom is cold. My husband likes a cold bedroom and I am the opposite. My nose gets really cold and I keep waking up if I put my head under the covers.

dollyjo When I lived alone in a very cold climate in a wee one bdr cottage, I'd use my wood stove as I got free wood from my parents. But it was a small stove and lost its heat about 2am. So I slept in jogging bottoms and sweatshirt. The electric baseboard heating was so drying I'd itch and nose bled, so did not set the thermostat for it to kick in. It could get down to about 8-10 degrees in the house. By morning my head was under the covers, too. Did my neck in, that did.

Try two single duvets with different togs. You could have a nice warm one
And your husband could have a 4.5 tog one which is very thin. You will find it much easier to iron single duvet covers too.

I iron duvet covers but we have a sheet underneath which is washed weekly so dont have to change duvet cover very often!
I like Maimeo's idea - matching single duvets, but just have a thin blanket in his and a high tog duvet in yours. Looks neat and suits everyone.

My H has the window open and no heating in our bedroom and still gets hot and sweaty while I'm cold, so I put an extra blanket or two on my side when we go to bed.

A 2,5 tog duvet for him and whatever you are comfy in, here in Scandinavia there arent double duvets, I am always warm, OH always cold, we never have heat on in the bedroom, its too cold in the winter to open the window,but with seperate duvets there is not a problem. Good luck.

How about zipped mattresses with fleece bedding on your side and just a single sheet on his with a full cover over the whole lot during the day to keep it tidy? We've slept in separate rooms for years and both have much better nights sleep. I've got the fleece bedding which is so cosy during the winter.

My DH has PD, and hates weight on his legs. He has tried sheets, a fleecy throw and a cheap, very thin quilt, while my half of the bed had, at first the whole of the double duvet, then a single one. Nothing worked for him really. We moved house recently, and (I) opted for single beds. It works for me. He is still trying the different duvets, and other options. Sometimes I find him sitting in an armchair during the night, covered by a small lightweight blanket that my DGD uses for her dolls!

Two bedrooms! Super king size in mine; king size in his! Have to accept double the washing but a small price to pay. And they say romance is dead!!
