Yesterday I was given a beautiful booklet to read - I had a quick look at it and then put it down somewhere..... before dashing out.
I thought I'd left it in my study but when I went to read it in the evening it wasn't there. I've looked EVERYWHERE and prayed to St Anthony ! . I"m really upset and irritated with myself. As I was running around a lot yesterday I think I may have accidentally put it in the rubbish which was being collected. Grrrrrr.
What do you do when you lose things ?
This is really eating away at me. (Bizarre!) I can't get another copy of this booklet which makes it all the more upsetting.

I once found my late mother's specs in her fridge. I of course have a vastly superior system - I carefully squirrel away important things like new keys, letters etc. in a Safe Place. Only problem is there are now several of these in.my house - if I could just remember where!

We have a door bell remote,
for when DH is out in the sauna at the bottom of the garden, when he has finished he likes to take a dip in the little river by the side of this, so he rings on this thing, so that I can watch in case anythings happens to him (like a heart attack) anyway he tested that this thing worked, in the house, and it did, the week after, he went into the sauna fuming, saying "where has that thing gone to?" I hadnt got a clue, but said i could watch instead, getting bored with waiting, I looked around and on the piano guess what, the damned things was there, so I left it there as I knew he wouldnt believe me if I moved i,t I asked him to look on the piano when he came in again, he still wasnt convinced, but did eventually remember when he had tested it and didnt take it with him, but not too pleased it was HE who had mislaid it. I was hoping it was lost for ever, the door bell had a Christmas jingle it plays!

A week before setting off for America,I lost my glasses. They were essential for me as I was driving. They turned up at the bottom of the chest freezer.

I'm sorry, but all your items are in 'The Black Hole' - every house has one, and when you want something, it hops into TBH and hides, quite invisible, until you stop looking/buy a replacement - then the missing item hops out again and perches in the centre of the mantlepiece, middle of the dining table etc - anywhere you've already looked - smirking and waiting to be noticed... wink
I've had this theory for years, as it's happened so often.....

Yes SueDoku I agree and in this hole (sometimes permanently) reside pens, pencils, scissors, needles, keys etc which were all originally sitting beside you when you were using them. Since I have had DGDs I will also add hair bobbles and slides which vanish while I am holding a ready brushed pony tail!!

Alternatively there may be a portal to a parallel universe whose inhabitants throw the missing objects back to us. Remarkably they seem to keep all the odd socks!!

I worked in a small library for a while, and was constantly amused by tales of people losing glasses and purses-they often seemed to turn up in the middle of freezers! I guess we look in there before shopping and accidentally leave them in there? I sound smug, but I' m not. I constantly lose a ring my partner gave me and usually a watch I have put with it- I put them down on my way to bed when putting things in the dishwasher or gathering reading material, and have woken myself up searching for the pesky things!I remember listening to Terry Wogan years ago, and one of his TOGS had lost a cup of hot chocolate they had just made. They found it a week later in the middle of the spare room floor.... we all do it! I would look in my handbag for that booklet, or inside another book. I have been known to put things in the front of another book thinking I will remember it and that it will be safe the. It is, usually from me!

First place I always look is the recycling bin/bin.

Come on, confess, how many of you have performed my trick of wandering around the house looking for your specs, only to eventually find them on the top of your head?blush

I have to admit that more than once I've asked someone if they've got their phone when I'm actually talking to them on it.....

I quite often mislay things but luckily have an angel who usually helps me. If I have looked everywhere I can think of I say "please angel, canyon help me. Where do I look". I am not superstitious and I have no idea how it works, but it usually does. After a few minutes into my head pops something like "look in your cupboard under sweaters" or something equally unlikely, and voila, there is t,he missing item. Once I had lost my car keys and looked everywhere - for days - until I asked help and my angel old me to take a look under the seat of my car. I had looked there several times and so had my husband, but the keys had slipped so far in they weee completely hidden. I went back into the kitchen, very grateful and thanked my angel. Then, believe it or not, as I looked out of the window I saw a bus going past, marked
ANGEL TOURS! I laughed - but nobody believed me. So, ask out loud if there is an angel around who'll be willing to be your special helper.

Love these stories. I shall ask the angel and house. I have ordered another copy of this booklet. Strangely it hasn't arrived and it was sent on Monday,...... Don't tell me another one has got lost!!

My DGC insist on using beds as trampolines and repeatedly knock off the wooden disks which fit on the tops of the metal upright posts of their Dad's bed leaving a quite sharp dangerous ring should they accidentally bounce onto it! I usually find the discs near or under the bed but three of them have disappeared this week.

Cue major tidy/clean up of bedroom which entailed two and a half hours of moving bed, furniture and numerous under bed storage boxes. I moved, dusted and vacuumed everything and found two of them. Having pushed a small chest of drawers back into place I wondered if it could have fallen into an open drawer so tidied up all the clothes in the drawers. No joy! Nowhere else to look!

No more options so I angrily said out loud, "Where the is it?"

I turned around and there it was on the (spotless and cleared of everything) floor! Angel? Poltergeist? House? Black hole? Portal to a parallel universe? Who knows? Maybe it was someone(thing)'s way of telling me to clean the bedroom!

I've glued them in with superglue now. Watch this space!
