Queen Camilla

Prince Charles is campaigning for Camilla to be Queen Camilla when he becomes King. I would not like her to be Queen. I think they both behaved appallingly in carrying on their affair when they were both married to someone else. They had no concern for the hurt, upset and heartbreak they caused Diana and Andrew PB. They just thought it was perfectly OK to act as they did. It's 80 years since Edward abdicated to marry a divorced woman, and Margaret was not able to marry Peter Townsend, even though she was unlikely to ascend the throne. So what rules have changed? He has what he wanted and married her, but making her Queen is condoning their adultery.
But I think I'm in the minority in my view.

Charles and Diana were both needy. She craved an affectionate, amusing self-confident man and he craved the mothering kind of love given to him by Camilla. Apparently, Camilla praises his every move and boosts his confidence. You need to be pretty grounded to support Charles.

There doesn't seem to be any evidence that Camilla and Diana were friends, let alone best ones at any time. As for Camilla being a 'gold digger' - rubbish! grin

And as Annie pointed out, Diana wasn't bothered about the wives of the men she threw herself at just to get back at Charles.

All very unedifying!

MissAdventure Thu 02-Mar-17 16:10:29

Charles and Diana love were a mismatch from the start, for whatever reasons. I think there was always an unease between them.
There is absolutely no doubt that Camilla is far more suited to him.

I think Camilla's the best thing to have happened for Charles and the Royal family, they were in a relationship long before Diana came into the picture. I knew and liked Camilla years ago.
Diana was definitely no saint, she didn't give a toss for the partners and families of those she set her eyes on. She should never have married Charles in my opinion.

MissAdventure Thu 02-Mar-17 16:11:20

And no doubt that an edit button would be handy.

MissAdventure Thu 02-Mar-17 16:12:40

I would put the onus on Charles, for not marrying Diana, given the age difference and his family situation.

Anniebach Thu 02-Mar-17 16:37:12

I would have thought parcels would have been opened by private secretaries , and again only Diana's word. I am surprised no newspaper has't found a photograph of Charles wearing these cufflinks , one would expect something of such sentimental value wouldn't have been left in the back of a drawer

Beammeup I saw that sketch, it was hilarious!

I was wondering if she should change her name, perhaps use her middle name.
But it is Rosemary (very pretty, I like it) which is not very Queen-like.
Queen Camilla?
Queen Rosemary?

Her parents did not have the foresight of Katherine's grin

Jalima.

Loved the leopardskin "jodhpurs",

I doubt most of you don't buy newspapers when they have anything interesting about the Royals, I certainly don't as if one things about it. The general public were the ones who actually killed Diana when the car was driving so fast to get away from the media. If so many were not interested in reading about Diana, there would not have been that many chasing the car.

MissAdventure Fri 03-Mar-17 09:38:23

Well, I suppose if we're going down that route, then she wouldn't have been in the car... etc etc

Anniebach Fri 03-Mar-17 09:45:34

If she wasn't playing games with the press they would not have left the ritz that night , it was she who contacted the press for photo shoots on the yacht , sadly she played this game for years

MissAdventure Fri 03-Mar-17 09:50:24

There is no doubt that Diana was manipulative, no doubt that she didn't do herself any favours
But that makes no difference to whether Camilla should be queen. Frankly, I care as much about the royals as they do about me.. as I've said, they will do as they please, anyway.

Anniebach Fri 03-Mar-17 09:57:52

I am usually critical,of the windsors , but on this I think if a second wife can take her husbands titles this applies to Camilla too, and revenge is unkind

Jalima Fri 03-Mar-17 11:12:30

I agree anniebach

But - if the wife of a King is known as Queen why is the husband of a reigning Queen not called King?
Is that sex discrimination?

Anniebach Fri 03-Mar-17 11:38:26

The wife if a King is officially queen consort, I suppose Phil and Albert couldn't be King because of the male hierarchy thingy

Anniebach Fri 03-Mar-17 11:42:16

Just a thought, Charles Spencer had three older sisters but he got the title and the estate

Mountbatten didn't have sons so by the wave of a magic wand queenie shifted the title Lady Mountbatten to his daughter

Yorkshiregel Fri 03-Mar-17 11:48:09

Anniebach, sorry to say this but I think stealing someone else' husband is unkind too! Betraying a trust is also unkind.

Anniebach Fri 03-Mar-17 11:57:22

Yes it is unkind, so is seeking revenge and this is the cause of not wanting a second wife to hold her husbands titles .

Beammeupscottie Fri 03-Mar-17 12:27:53

I always thought it took two to tango! Why blame just one person?

Anniebach Fri 03-Mar-17 12:47:51

Everything Diana said was the truth, no matter no witnesses to many of her allegations , the married men she had affairs with were at fault, their wives of no importance, but they should have accepted three in their marriages because the third one was Diana who was only looking for love so not her fault.

Yorkshiregel Fri 03-Mar-17 14:28:11

Misadventure they looked well matched to me: Some happy photos for you to look at.

Who knows what may have happened if Camilla had kept her distance?

This makes interesting reading too:

All about cause and affect.

Anniebach Fri 03-Mar-17 14:40:20

Who knows, Chsrles could have had a nervous breakdown

Yorkshiregel Fri 03-Mar-17 14:40:57

So what you see is quiet acceptance when once there was hate. The Queen putting her country and the Monarchy first above everything else. Self promoting Camilla is just playing a waiting game. She is a manipulator if ever there was one. She has always had her eye on becoming Queen. The public were promised that this was something she would never be and that is why she was allowed a divorce from her own husband and to marry Charles. They may be happy together, but then they deserve each other for all the hurt and upset they have caused. I hope Queen Elizabeth lives to be 100!

Yes, Diana and Camilla were friends. There are pictures of them together at the races, going shopping together, and chatting together at a polo match. Lots of things on the internet if you look for them.

Camilla was not Charles' only love. Dale, Lady Tryon, nicknamed Kanga, was his mistress for a long time even though she was married. He was also seeing Camilla and the two women, not surprisingly, disliked each other.

Poor Dale had less happy ending than Camilla.
