Chewbacca, thank you for a great thread. It has brought back so many happy memories. I am sitting here smiling away.
The mention of "Thorn Birds" has just reminded my that I have a "Thorn Birds" DVD to watch, the next time hubby goes out.

Just looked it up. It was Bonanza and the actor who played Hoss died just before they filmed the final series so his character died.

Flippin 'eck! You lot have got brilliant memories! I'd forgotten all about Compact and the Thornton Birds but I can see them so vividly now you've reminded me. Does anyone remember an American series called 77 Sunset Strip? I think it had an older man in it; a younger man and a girl called Nancy, but for some reason they called her Nutsy. Or have I got that totally wrong?

Yes! 77 sunset Strip and it had a catchy theme tune, I think there was a guy called Cooky in it. Maybe I have just made that up.

My husband has just told me Efrem Zimbalist Jr. was the name of the actor who played the older man.

That's him Marydoll! Efrem Zimbalist. But I can't remember the theme tune at all.

Chewbacca thanks from me too for this thread and all the programmes it's recalled - such as I Dream of Jeannie with a young Larry Hagman and Bewitched with Elizabeth someone (I think).

My favourite at one time was Circus Boy with the young Micky Dolenz (who grew up to be a Monkee) playing Corky and Noah Beery Jnr (don't you just love that name?) playing Uncle Joey.

Elizabeth Montgomery was Bewitched! I used time spend soooo much time trying to get my nose to wiggle like Samantha! Never managed it

Christinefrance. I can't remember the title of the show. She had a brother who was played by Jimmy Jewell.

Had to Google. It so I could get to sleep. Nearest and Dearest.

I loved The Waltons Chewbacca and I'll never forget "Goodnight John Boy" and "Good Night Grandma" etc.

I remember long ago, must have been in the 50s , I watched 'Precious Bane' on nextdoors television. We didn't have one. I was under 10 and I fell in love with the woodman. I can remember him very well but not his name.

As a child I remember watching Torchy the Battery Boy and Twizzle. The a bit later on Cheyenne (people started calling their children Cheyenne. I wonder where they are now). Also Will Hutchins (I think) in Sugarfoot. Also Lunch Box with Noele Gordon with music from Jerry Allen and his TV Trio - although I'm not sure if that was just a Midlands thing.
