Well I must beg to differ; Iceberg is my favourite lettuce and I could eat it every meal! So sweet and crispy and keeps for weeks in the fridge. I also like cos nd some otger crispy lettuces but not so keen on these fashionable baby leaves etc which I find limp and difficult to swallow. Also they go off in a couple of days even in the fridge.
My husband is amused at the suggestion that we will only be allowed to buy 3 broccoli heads at a time as he hates broccoli ( though I like it.)

I like romine and especially little gem lettuce too. Hate using any type of dressing though. But i do put other stuff in - peppers cherry tomatoes spring onions etc. So its not a bit tasteless!

I don't mind iceberg as a basis to a green salad because too much rocket and watercress (though lovely and tasty) can be too strong. I like young beetroot leaves with it too.
Cos is best though we don't eat much salad in the cold weather.

Just a drizzle of olive oil for me.

There was plenty in Asda, maybe because the actually buy British veg.

I dont know what the fuss is, our very tiny community run store had a delivery of fresh veg yesterday which included iceberg and broccoli

No real problem in our area. Nearest supermarket (Sainsbury's) has adequate stock. Morrisons is patchy though as is Lidl. May need to be flexible about where I shop but it's all available locally.

I have just seen the new M&S Mother of the Bride (groom in my case) outfits and they are nearly all sleeveless. Stupid or what?

No coyrgetts in Sainsburus this morning But they had the ' spiralised'version in a bag (?) So I resorted to that .I like to follow a new recipe to the letter the first time and couldn't remember what I needed it for and whether I could substitute ...'tis for a stir fry so should be fine

have you heard that they are now having to ration lettuce SEEDS. There has been a run on lettuce seeds because people are so worried about the lack of lettuces (not that I have noticed) that people are asking about how they can grow their own.

How strange! Do they not realise the lack of lettuce at the moment is due to a temporary blip and that there will be plenty in the shops again soon?

Mind you - homegrown taste good unless Peter gets to them first, or the slugs!

I read that sales of lettuce seeds had soared since the shortage. Although if anyone thinks they can grow a lettuce in the winter in the UK in a few weeks will be very disappointed!
