People would not throw away so much food if they knew and appreciated all the effort and sheer hard work it takes the farmers to get it to market.

I think it shows how deep is the ignorance of how food is produced and where it comes from in a country where most of the population

I read that sales of lettuce seeds had soared since the shortage. Although if anyone thinks they can grow a lettuce in the winter in the UK in a few weeks will be very disappointed!

have you heard that they are now having to ration lettuce SEEDS. There has been a run on lettuce seeds because people are so worried about the lack of lettuces (not that I have noticed) that people are asking about how they can grow their own.

No real problem in our area. Nearest supermarket (Sainsbury's) has adequate stock. Morrisons is patchy though as is Lidl. May need to be flexible about where I shop but it's all available locally.
