There is a student song about the Good Ship Venus, with a chorus "frigging in the rigging, there's fuckall else to do" so a frig must be another word for what is sometimes called carnal intercouse.

Elegran I read somewhere, although I can no longer remember where, that it was common practice when testing if a woman was a witch to tie left wrist to right ankle and right wrist to left ankle before chucking her in the pond, river or lake. Not much chance of survival there, but she still didn't get cleared of demonic practices and the sadistic, power-crazed misogynist Witch-Finder General got satisfaction. Of course, this may be completely untrue.
