Anyone who has noticed that she hasn't posted for a while might not be surprised to learn that she's unable to receive PMs.

We all know what that means.

moybenmar I will ask GN to move this to a new thread as it could get lost on the end of this one.

Contentiousness was my point, db. Life is full of contentiousness. There is nothing wrong with contention per se. I doubt if a subject on this planet contains absolutely no contention should people actually volunteer their real opinions about it. Even pet cats. Yes this thread and many others are full of contentiousness. So what? Nobody need join in, or even carry on reading, who dislikes it.

And now I will be told off and disapproved of for speaking in favour of contention.

Nota bene: I have no objections to pet cats. I did read a list of things really Green, planet-friendly people shouldn't do recently though, published by some green group, and having a pet was one of them. I can't remember if it was emissions or destructiveness or something else that was the problem. I just rolled my eyes and moved on.

Cads and bounders every one
Renounce them all and be a nun!

Elegran Tue 17-Jan-17 16:55:42

We'll just have to keep meandering off to talk about hens and witches, and keep off the scratches itches, DB

Sigh no more ladies, sigh no more.
Men were deceivers ever.
One foot at sea and one on shore,
To one love faithful never.

That doesn't apply to them all, I hasten to add.

Ana Tue 17-Jan-17 16:48:12

Calamine lotion's good.

Anya Tue 17-Jan-17 16:47:11

I didn't know you had such a poetic side roses wink

NanaandGrampy Tue 17-Jan-17 16:44:10

'tis true Ana smile

FarNorth Tue 17-Jan-17 16:42:55

Itching is involuntary but a decision has to be made whether to scratch.

Ana Tue 17-Jan-17 16:42:01

Some people can <sigh> about anything, NanaandGrampy...smile

rosesarered Tue 17-Jan-17 16:40:23

Anya that sounds like the first line of a poem,
One of my hens lays blue green eggs
She hides them in the hedges
Her feathers are cream and red her legs,
She perches on the ledges
And so on! grin

Jalima Tue 17-Jan-17 16:40:17

I think I would be rather grumpy if I was a hen still laying eggs at 7 .....
Would it be like having a baby at 70?

NanaandGrampy Tue 17-Jan-17 16:38:22

Its kind of hard to sigh about people genuinely being nice to each other Anasmileand long may that last !

Anya Tue 17-Jan-17 16:32:15

One of my hens lays blues-green eggs.

merlotgran Tue 17-Jan-17 16:30:40

I agree about itching not reflecting well on one's personality.

Shouldn't be done in polite company.

Anya Tue 17-Jan-17 16:30:15

Some grouses are OK; well truthfully I prefer a single malt, but I'll drink s Famous Grouse at a push.

I have a hen called Violette bags she's a nasty piece of work too. She's from our original flock and must be 7 years old, she just won't die still lays an egg every so often.

merlotgran Tue 17-Jan-17 16:28:59

I love quirky names for hens. I took two of the DGDs to a poultry auction and was delighted to bid successfully for two Cream Legbars which they named Yolko and Ono. grin

We also had a cockerel called Yodel because that's what he did but once he'd served his purpose he ended up in the pot.

grannypiper Tue 17-Jan-17 16:21:56

thatbags, not the last post but the one about the hens

grannypiper Tue 17-Jan-17 16:20:52

Thatbags, your last post had me rofl

DaphneBroon Tue 17-Jan-17 16:02:45

I <sigh> precisely because so much has been self-perpetuating and far from uncontentious.
Hens and witching are fine -grouses and *itching reflect well on no one.
