The holly has shriveled, the ivy's gone limp,
When I glance in the mirror I resemble a blimp.

The fridge now contains such a random selection,
Please let the recycling be due for collection!

The number of bottles could put us to shame,
Thank heavens the neighbours are partly to blame.

The dregs in the bottle of port look quite murky,
And even the cats have lost interest in turkey.

I've run out of money, I've run out of cheer,
I can't get excited about a New Year

I felt the same last year I seem to remember,
But the magic returns with each new December.

Sending every good wish to GN'ers, old & new,
And may 2017 be a good year for you.

Perfect New Year's Eve - a wonderful meal with friends in a delightful hotel. Dancing till midnight, laughing, having FUN. Lots of kissing and hugging as 2017 arrives. Retiring to your amazing hotel room - a restful nights sleep.......
Reality - staying in because the dog hates fireworks, being desperate to go to bed but managing to reach midnight. The dog freaking out and barking like crazy at every bang. Saying "Happy New Year" to my husband, retiring to bed. Eventually husband and dog (??) join me......4.25am dog kicks off again and I swear (*@!!*@) and disappear to spare bed! Happy New Year to you ALL!!
