New Year Resolutions - do you make them?

I have recurrent NY Resolutions mainly around eating less, exercising more and losing weight! ?

This year I want to plan better and keep track of things more, finish my online course bought in last few years but never completed and research and possibly implement turning my sewing and crochet hobbies into a home based business

Do you make any? DH refuses to engage in it so I make them for him which he finds great pleasure in ignoring!!!

Same resolutions about less food and more writing every year?
Have a great 2017 everyone!

I am going to be a more positive person, like I used to be, and I liked myself more then!

Try to think of something to resolve and also things to put on a bucket list - can't come up with either at the moment sad Happy New Year to you all!

Going to treat myself to a really good camera and go on a course to learn how to use it and which software to use. Aiming to send a photo in for The Countryfile Calendar and madebe just get it choosen. Nothing else.

paddyann Do not put things in the ironing pile. Hang them up or fold them carefully and put them away. Most of them don't need ironing as the warmth of the human body takes the creases out when they are worn (except for a few usually expensive things that you don't wear much anyway!) I haven't ironed for over 10 years - so liberating!

As for me - can't put more on my bucket list Willow500 because they would cost more than I have. I have done a lot already.

Made more time for myself last year to get fit and do things I wanted but became very frustrating as I frequently had to cancel for DGC and DC. Never mind, I will try again!

I might start writing my memoirs instead of posting memories on Gransnet!!!

Happy New Year everyone. Remember every day is the start of a new year. wink

Robthefox "Last year I resolved to lose 12lbs in weight by 1/1/2017......only 18lbs to go" ??????????

I had only just retired last year so I made a long list of New Year's resolutions to make sure I would use my retirement productively. Luckily I lost the list when the kitchen was re-furbished (but at least doing up the kitchen was on it!). A year on I have chilled out a bit and decided retirement isnt just another work project without the pay. Having said that I do need some sort of framework to keep me motivated and I like to tick off 'achievements' because it makes me feel good. So this year I am in process of making a 'to do' list of between ten and at the max twenty items. I like your idea of a health folder Emily. I have put that down to do!

I refuse to make NYR, January is the worst time; give up smoking - no not enough willpower, I only smoke about 4 a day; diet - I'm Type2 Diabetic so chocolates will be eaten up gradually along with my usual diet.

Get fitter, that should happen as weather gets better & I can do some more physical work in the garden.

This year I am going to get out more & visit new places, try to visit my DM a few more times (she's nearly 88 & lives 300 miles away). New plants for my garden. Decorate my house to my taste if DD & her OH have time but as new DGC due in May & DGS at School plus Football & Swimminggrin

I like to plan for year ahead rather than make resolutionssmile

As for throwing chocolates in the bin & pouring wine etc down the sink I see that as a total waste - could these items not have been donated?hmm

Has anyone broke their NYR yet or am I the first?

I made a NYR just after midnight (after one or two glasses of red) that I would stop being such a miserable cow and try to think more positively. Guess what? Within a few hours I was back to my old grumpy self.

It was such hard one to try and keep anyway and totally unrealistic.

It will be March at the earliest before I can think about whether mine will be kept. As things stand at present, I can't see the said Zen-like insouciance getting a look in. DH said on New Year's Eve "we must try and be more tolerant with each other this coming year". What he actually meant was "you should try and be a bit more tolerant with me!" I agreed with him. Well, four days in, and that one has already hit the buffers!

Until today I wasn't doing too bad on the "no internet after 8pm" resolution, gillybob. Unfortunately, I've just realised what time it is.
