Regalo, what a wonderful Christmas present, for you and your family.
Asper, I am so jealous. Mine went long ago, when I left home.

My husband is always chasing me for a list so I sent him one with a selection of Pandora charms I really liked to go with the Pandora Charm necklace he's bought me for our Anniversary. A few weeks later he asked if there were other little bits I'd like as he didn't think there was much on that list so I asked for a blue cardigan, socks, etc. Come Christmas day, I got a black(!) cardigan and a jewellery stand. He kept saying, "I'm sure I bought you more than that" so I was anticipating a Pandora charm. Eventually he handed me the mug he'd bought me and went off to peel the potatoes. To say I was a tad disappointed was an understatement. When I asked him why he hadn't bought anything on the list, he said, "I bought you the necklace, I didn't think you needed anything else"!

Any way, my darling son came in today with 2 odd shaped presents. It turned out to be 2 Pandora charms disguised in the most peculiar metal dressed glass tea light holders! I was so thrilled so I think that must be my best present.

My daughter bought me the 2017 Whitaker's Almanac despite its price doubling in two years to £85. I've had every edition for 30 years and enjoy exploring its deep well of UK knowledge and looking back on old editions. Thank you Louise.

I got given them about 3 years ago by a friend, and looked for them in shops myself ever since.

I only had one present, a book from a friend.

Greyduster Tue 27-Dec-16 15:47:29

I got a book from my grandson (9) which he was at pains to tell me he had bought with his pocket money from a book sale at school. "Because I know you like birds, nanny". It is the RSPB First Book of Birds (age appropriate for about age 5/6). I have been watching birds for around forty years and consider myself very knowledgable, but I was touched by the fact that he had seen this book and thought of me "because I like birds”! Our grandchildren are so very precious. Your news is just the best, regalo. I'm so happy for you.

Lovely news Regalo. I do like the idea of Chalet School reprints. I've been given a snood in fur fabric. It's very cosy but I look ridiculous. Beyond ridiculous. I am quite thick skinned about how I look, going for comfort over fashion but really. It's a lovely thought.sigh. But I look a sight.

annsixty Tue 27-Dec-16 16:29:13

Wonderful news for your whole family Regalo nothing can beat that.

l asked my friends not to buy for me this year as l'm a bit strapped and couldn't reciprocate. However, some of them did and they got me the most lovely things, my favourite being a canvas print of a photo of my two house rabbits which my friend 'borrowed' from my social media and had made up into a picture.
And also, l was so touched that so many people sent me stuff for the bunnies!
l'll be treating them once l'm sorted out. l hope everyone had a lovely Christmas x

Thank you for your supportive comments about our little grandson. Cancer in a baby is truly dreadful .. You will all understand how amazing it was to hear that the gorgeous little chap has won through.
If anyone would like to support children's cancer charities, please send your used stamps to the address below. CLIC Sargent provided fantastic support to my daughter and son in law during Our grandsons treatment. They sell used stamps on to raise much needed funds. Thank you

Lots of lovely gifts mentioned here and I've had some thoughtful ones too but I think 'regalo's is the best of all. Glad to year your family had good support from Clic Sargent, I worked for them just before I retired, they do a good job.
