Little things that have made you happy today

On the last what makes you happy thread I said I'd fired up my kindle. Well I've now read my first book on it. It was really easy and nice and light to hold. I'm a convert

Clearing out my wardrobe and throwing out/recycling all my size 18-20 clothes that are now too big . My wardrobe looks very empty now - great excuse to buy new clothes!
Seeing the pleasure on my DD's face as she finished a knitted scarf with a pompon at each end for her DD - she is, in her own words, "the most uncreative person on the planet", so this was a real achievement for her.

My beauty of a grandaughter arrived from Canada for a whole month......she called me gan gan as I only saw her 8 weeks ago.....at 18 months old I am thrilled

Not really a 'little thing' at all, but I am so happy the 'epipen' was invented. Yesterday my grandson (aged 3) accidentally ate a poppy seed cracker that had sesame seeds in and within minutes went into anaphylactic shock. Happily the epipen worked and after a quick trip to hospital he was right as rain.

He phoned me to tell me his version of events: 'Granny my daddy stabbed me in the leg so I had to go hospital in the ambulance!' Bet that went down well with the safeguarding co-ordinator at school today.

DGS2, aged 4, was player of the week at his football training. He was so chuffed he could hardly speak!

Today - watching two of the children I childmind play together.
Most evenings - holding hands with my DH while we watch TV and chat about the day. That's bliss.

Out Christmas shopping with DD this morning, and shopping done, sat chatting in comfy chairs in a coffee shop whilst slurping hot chocolate with whipped cream on.

On Monday, lunch with 2 friends I have known for years but only meet up with a few times a year now due to distance. Talking and laughing about silly things just as we did when we were in our teens made me happy and smiley. Even the very bad journey home couldn't bring me down.
Also today receiving a Christmas card from someone who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and is now on the road to recovery.

Ditto roses - out shopping with my DD and DGD, stopping for tea and cake in Debenhams. The most lush white chocokate and Turkish delight tray bake I have ever tasted

Had the appointment with DH's oncologist today, the chemo has done its job, certainly not out of the woods, there's no chance of that, but it has given him time. A good day.

A letter and photo from the girl we sponsor in Nepal. The £100 a year it costs me pays for all her schooling, uniform and lunch. She is so grateful and her English is so much better than my Nepalese . It is the first time she has felt confident enough to write to us.

GS3 paid me his highest compliment 'Nana, you are silly!'

Isn't this a lively gentle thread. I posted the cards yesterday - find it a real chore so I'm glad it's done.

My granddaughter telling me about her new boyfriend and her plans for Uni, so good to feel part of her life even though we are so far away.

Having a hacking cough at the moment, got up early (5.30.... very early for me) had a cup of tea with honey,then sat and wrote all my Christmas cards.Like kitty I find it a chore, so am very pleased with myself now.

Roses, I've just realised that my cough has improved after about 6 weeks. My sinuses on the other hand......

It must be old age! Things never used to take so long to go did they? Oh well, only another four weeks to go then.

That this morning I have cleared lots of little jobs that really needed doing. Very satisfying.
