Questions to ask of the Lady of the Manor. Is the house very cold? Do we need thermals, hot water bottles? Any other pointers she can give us?

Yes, Bellanonna the house is indeed very cold ( all that marble) and we never got around to installing central heating (Daddy lost a fortune on the gee-gees back in the 50's) otherwise we would have spent our inheritance money on it.The roof leaks constantly, but on the upside, there is a fireplace in every room and the servants have been told to allow four logs per person, so you will be (fairly) warm to undress.
There is one huge (cold) bathroom on every floor, and each guest will have six inches of tepid brackish water to bathe in (as it's Christmas!)
So, thermals and hot water bottles are a must, as are umbrellas for those staying in the East wing ( where the roof is leakiest).
However, if you all bring a hunk to the party, there are other ways of staying warm at night.For those averse to a little canoodling in the small hours, a winceyette nightie is a
must.
