Greyduster I like the sound of your visual humour card. The best one I ever got for my son, then in his 20s, was a picture of two peahens looking at a peacock displaying his feathers and one hen saying, "Just cut the crap and show us your willy".

A marginally rude joke should always have a genuinely funny and relevant punchline. It's hard to define.

Nan in the Royle Family used to make us laugh as her comments were very close to what my MIL says. There was a sit com a few years ago called Early Doors which is sometimes repeated on UK Gold. As northerners we find it very funny as again it reflects some of the people in the North. Both series were part written by the late and very talented Caroline Aherne.

Love it Nelliemoser, I also used to like the old fashioned post cards from the seaside, memories of a more discreet era.
Seems we all like observational humour and rather more sophisticated stuff than slapstick. I do find men have a preference for certain types of humour like Month Python or is that a generalisation?
