I went to London on the train with DH. spent the whole day wandering around Museums, stopped off for a light Lunch, and did a bit of People watching, then back to another Museum.

Back to the hotel for a brief rest, shower and change, then out to Dinner in a lovely little Thai Restaurant we found years ago.
Fab dinner, now back in the Hotel, will be travelling back home tomorrow.

well!! That is how I would have liked to have spent my day. Here is the reality.

Overslept as didn't get to sleep until 5 am( ish) this morning. dark, windy and torrential rain most of the day. worked for the rest of the day trying to catch up from not getting up until late, fitted in the usual cleaning, cooking etc, and also preparing papers for this blinking meeting looming on Tuesday.

Off to bed again now to sleep...perchance to dream??

Most of my days are as the above, oh well I did used to have fun in a former life. sad

You will again one day Shanma!
Yesterday I spent in a spa, mostly sitting in the outdoor hot tub interspersed with sessions on the ceramic heated beds followed by a massage. Had a delicious lunch (with Prosecco) then back to the hotel to relax for a bit. Afternoon tea with my chum led to a prolonged people watching and scurrilous eavesdropping session in the hotel lounge.
We couldn't be bothered to get dressed up to go out for dinner so just ordered room service and watched TV over a nice bottle of bubbly. Lovely! If only.
Reality. Cold wet day. Still stuck inside recovering from recent knee replacement. DH had forgotten to get anything for my lunch so made do with some stale cheese biscuits. Excruciating physio exercises obediently done then recovering slumped in my chair watching I'm a Celebrity recorded previous evening. Only high spot a visitor. Enjoyed seeing a different person and hearing about life in the outside world.

Hmm, an interesting thread. Yesterday DH and I had a delicious breakfast in a nice hotel on the Norfolk coast and then set out on a clear day to walk the marshes watching birds. We stopped for picnic lunch of sandwiches stuffed with fresh seafood from the fish shack at a local harbour, washed down with a bottle of chilled white wine. Later, after trying out the double ended bath and "unwinding" for a couple of hours, we walked to the village for an excellent dinner at a well known gastro pub where the food was out of this world! In reality? Rubbed down paintwork in the dining room which has been out of commission for a week now while decorating proceeds at a snails pace. Made some soup, and some cakes for DH's football club refreshment stand on Sunday, and then flopped down in front of the tele, sick of the mess and eating meals off a tray!

Yesterday my new lover rolled up in his limousine and whisked me off to Harrods and left me with the personal shopper and a budget of £10k to spend on nice dress for Christmas. he picked me up an hour later took me to Skeekey's for lunch and presented me with a long box marked Garrard's in which nestled a diamond bracelet together with his undying and devoted love for me.

Reality I cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen, unpacked the Sainsbury delivery went out to the salon to get my beard and moustache waxed off and some new eyebrows, walked back in the pouring rain and howling gale in my to thin a coat for that sort of day no hat and no umbrella. Had leftovers for tea.

I lounged in bed until 10am with a lovely breakfast of croissants and the best strawberry jam ever. I then had a warm bubble bath and the hairdresser was waiting to make me look beautiful for my lunch date with my H who chatted about interesting topics and actually listened to my opinions.
We then jetted off to Paris for dinner on a boat sailing down the Seine, everywhere was illuminated looking like a magical land. We had a cabin on the boat and drifted off to the water gently lapping on the side of the boat.
Reality was so boring I am not even going to waste time typing it.

grin I am enjoying this thread!

A chauffeur picked me up from the house and dropped me at Terminal 5, I checked in quickly and was whizzed straight through to the first class lounge where I had my hair done whilst drinking Champagne, then it was time for a quick massage before boarding my flight to the Maldives.
I really must stop dreaming - in reality yesterday I did housework, gardening, sorted out stuff for my elderly father and made a stew for tea before nodding off in front of the telly about nine in the evening.

I spent a day working in my bright and airy studio, on my latest artwork, commissioned by George Clooney as a present for his wife, which has earned me enough to pay off our mortgage. I ordered food to be delivered for our evening meal as I am Far Too Important to cook. Him Indoors massaged my shoulders AND feet as we watched a romantic comedy instead of football, without expecting me to massage him in return.

reality - got home from visiting lovely but ill grandbabies with a stinking sinusey cold they gave me, slobbed on sofa, went shopping for tissues and cough sweets, found all the ailing vegetables in the fridge and made veg stew that was grunted at by the teenager, then gave her a lift in the wet and dark to her evening drama. nb Him Indoors volunteered to collect her at 10 as I was falling asleep on the sofa, os that earns him some BrowniePoints. Leftovers for tea tonight.

My lover and I went for a long walk, talking, talking, talking. Had a beautiful lunch, followed by a siesta, then we travelled back in time and saw a stunning performance of Arabian Nights by Shared Experience in the Crucible Studio. A perfect meeting of minds and bodies and hearts.
The reality was that I am stuck indoors with cellulitis.
Great thread, though, thanks.

I go out at the golden hour, warm of course, and set up a prize winning landscape shot on my camera, before returning to a warm fire and comfort food.

In reality my photography class went to the station, where, despite the permission granted, a staff member threatened to throw me out if I pointed the camera in her direction, and I bounded from pillar to post trying to find a train that was actually moving, before returning home to delete about 200 blurred images.

My younger rather handsome lover takes me to the airport early to catch a flight to Amsterdam where we wander the streets in the weak sunshine, pausing for an occasional beer and some people watching. We stay in a weird and rather quirky hotel then in the morning we visit a gallery or two before a lovely lunch with a very nice wine or three. In the afternoon we go to Bimhuis to listen to 8 hours of free jazz before slowly wandering back to our hotel. (For a rather steamy night!)

The reality?? It's this weekend and I canny wait!

I had a lovely walk along the west coast of Jersey, ending at the lighthouse, where I watched the waves crash onto the rocks before the sun set over the sea.
In reality,my carer was late,I had bad news,I was in a lot of pain and hardly slept.Ho-hum.Sense of humour still just about intact though.

sillup Fri 18-Nov-16 11:43:16

blueberry1 My mom always said she could cope as long as she didn't lose her sense of humour. It saw her through some very dark days. Hope today is a better day for you. (flowers)

My daughter and family arrived unexpectedly at the door! A wonderful surprise. They said they were moving over here and would I join them for Christmas in their new home. In reality, my family live in the USA and aren't even speaking to me and I'm certainly not invited for Christmas....!

Shesanana Fri 18-Nov-16 13:45:32

I went to meet my birth mother for the first time. We hugged tight. She was so pleased to see me. After a few tears, we swapped the stories of our lives and I felt warm and loved and happy. All questions were answered. No regrets, just sharing our joy at finding each other.
In reality it's 29 years since she passed away and I only discovered that I was adopted this February, at the age of 65!
To end on a positive note, those in my birth family who are still alive, 4 uncles and their wives, 28 first cousins and their families, scattered all over the world, could not have given me a warmer welcome smile

loopyloo Fri 18-Nov-16 14:33:00

Had a difficult night with pain in my legs . My carer arrived late and I did not have time for a shower. I dream of the days when I could walk unaided and my husband was still alive.
In reality, I am able to drive the grand kids to school, go shopping to Waitrose with my husband, who irritates me by wandering off. I didn't hit anything in the car park. And will soon pick the children up and give them tea and listen to my daughter moan about work. How fortunate I am.

Morgana Fri 18-Nov-16 15:30:31

Shesanana although my husband knew he had a birth mother and that she had died, he did not know her family. When we finally managed to contact them (via a geneology website) he too discovered that he had a large family. Most of them have been very interested in meeting up with us. It doesn't take away the pain and regret, but at least you feel part of your heritage.

DanniRae Fri 18-Nov-16 15:31:51

Don't be jealous but this morning I woke up on my super yacht - had a delicious breakfast served by my handsome, young lover. I finally climbed out of my beautiful, circular bed at about 10am - leaving him languishing there - and had a wonderful, fragrant bath. I stepped into my new clothes, all laid out for me, and went to relax on the yacht's sun deck. I felt so content and loved, the feeling was amazing and I knew the day had only just begun..........

In reality I went to Sainsburys, my husband is now snoring in his chair (It's only 3.30!!) and all I have to look forward to is cooking the blink'in dinner. grin

Shesanana Fri 18-Nov-16 16:10:28

I have very mixed emotions morgana but I know I'm luckier than lots of people and everything was meant for the best at that time.

Teddy123 Fri 18-Nov-16 16:19:07

Brilliant dreams ladies .... All with the same theme more or less

Perhaps our husbands have the same daydreams so maybe when they come home, we should be waiting with open arms wearing a tasteful yet provocative outfit and beautifully coiffed with full make up.

My old man would definitely think he's dreaming because by 5pm I'm usually wearing my warm onesie, having a quick nap or laughing at Judge Judy

Have a lovely evening ladies ...

Hattiehelga Fri 18-Nov-16 17:24:15

We are 45 and on a Viking River Cruise on the Danube. We have the most expensive suite with a Butler, everything we ask for and ultra-relaxing and enjoying the top of the range food and entertaining.

Actually - we are 77 and convinced yesterday was Friday, I did a thorough top to bottom clean "ready for the weekend". Still, it was nice to wake up today knowing it was all done and I had a free day to chill out and prepare the fruit for three Christmas cakes !!

Legs55 Fri 18-Nov-16 17:26:43

My dear (male) friend is here to take me out to one of our favourite NT places, Lunch, very tasty. Back home to get ready for an Evening meal out at local Gastropub, back home for a nightcap.......

Reality, hoover, water houseplants, dust, clean kitchen, made phone calls to sort bills out, dodge the rain to put Re-Cycling & Garden waste bins out. Sort out Christmas card list & find cards after Dinner (cooked by me, eaten on my own), wrapped a Birthday present & card written ready for Sunday. I can dream about days going out in good company hmm

sarahellenwhitney Fri 18-Nov-16 17:50:13

DanniRae
Would you care to swap places?
What wouldn't I give to have my husband who I lost after 50 years of marriage snoring in his chair at 3.30.

Tessa101 Fri 18-Nov-16 18:47:45

Yesterday I walked the dog along the Devon coastline stopped for hot chocolate. Met my girl friends for lunch enjoyed a bottle of proseco, did some cloths shopping for the up coming Christmas parties. Booked my flight to see DD in Australia.

In reality saw my partner of 14 years with his arms wrapped round another woman. ( I'm presently in bits).

annsixty Fri 18-Nov-16 19:04:39

How awful Tessa so sad for you.
