Xmas jumpers - what do you think?

I'll just put my head above the parapet and say that this morning I was in Primark and they had lots of lovely soft Christmas jumpers at a very reasonable price. I bought one from them a couple of years ago and it is still like new so wasn't looking to buy a jumper ..... I actually had heard that they had Christmas Slippers .... very nice range and I'm taking my toddler DGS in next week to help me choose between Unicorns, Reindeers or Elfs. IMHO if it gives the GC a laugh and a smile that fine by me. I can't solve the world's problems, I give what I can to a number of charities and I really don't care what the likes of Emilie think so they are wasting their breath !! I'm now about to lower my head and get my Christmas Flack Jacket out of the wardrobe !! Ho Ho Ho

I've never had a Xmas jumper but in January this year I bought 2 in the sales for 3pounds each. My poor DH is getting on for Xmas which I doubt if he will appreciate but what the heck!!

Oo-er the resident style gurus decree "toe-curling" and "cheap and nasty" - how rude, Emilie not to say uncalled-for. Who do they think they are? Trinny and Susannah?

As I have explained on another thread, I think the £1 donation to charity for permission to wear an expensive Christmas Jumper or Onesie to school or work is a nonsense for struggling families who can manage the £1 a head for the Charity but not the £10 or so per head for the jumpers.

I agree with you nannypink there is enough misery in the world and wearing a xmas jumper is a feel good factor for the wearer and the observers! I especially like the idea of schools and workplaces paying , say one pound to wear it, and the money goes to a charity. A win win situation

It's just a bit of fun and the world we live in now...well FUN is what we need. Cheap as chips in Primark. Let's not be grumpy about it. There's enough misery in the world.

A couple of people mentioned Christmas cardigans. There were some in Debenhams (Mantaray) last year, thin ones, but I haven't seen any this year as yet.

Parsleywin, I totally agree, it would be so wonderful to be able to be warm from just a Christmas jumper. I also spend the winter all layered up and still cold!

I have a red knee-length jumper with white star which I bought for my choir's Christmas concerts at care homes. Makes me feel seasonal.

Bon Marche have a lovely red jumper with a christmas tree in gold studs on the front. Material is mainly viscose which is a natural fibre and therefore breathable. Better if you tend to get hot!

Bon Marche and Edinburgh Woollen Mill have nice Christmas t shirts. Hope you get something to suit.

Liz I got a nice Christmas jumper from George at Asda last year, it is not at all thick and chunky, it is fine knit and cotton so cool. (I have to wear a long sleeve T-shirt under as it is a bit too cool for me.) I think I saw a thin knit one in tesco just the other day.

More non-recyclable plastic made by children in Bangladesh to be discarded a week later. Ho ho ho.

My grandaughter had a Xmas jumper day at her school, ( academy so they call it now). Now she is in her last year, year 11, they now have a new principal who is changing things over so this year I don't think they will have Xmas jumper day. The thing is it's for charity you take in a £1 coin.
It's such a shame because it's for a good cause and they make quite a bit of money.

Most supermarkets seem to do Christmas T shirts I bought them for visitros last year so they could pose for pics in a Christmas photo booth I made with mad hats and other props.they were all young and beautiful rather them than me !!!

Last year I found a long sleeved Teeshirt (so not too hot) with 2 Christmas puds strategically placed over boobs & the words-' hands off my puds!'
I wore it to WI meeting, a craft group meeting & on Xmas day at home- actually I wore it quite a lot. I love it.
I shall be wearing it again this year. It's a bit of fun.#
I wouldn't have paid a fortune for a good top but this was reasonable.

The children all have Christmas jumpers so why not Grandma!

We had a Save the Children Christmas jumper day last year so I bought one - red with fluffy penguin - relatively cheap from Asda. I wore it to several Christmassy events and it will come out again this year for the same/similar events and on Christmas Day.

When I was at work I usually bought a sparkly jumper for Christmas events. I wore the last one for several years after I retired, so I'm sure my penguin will be around for some time.

My christmas t shirt for work last year was a christmas pj top! I didn't wear the bottoms! I too would love a christmas cardie and will perhaps bling one up this year. Although I love knitting I only knit for little people ....

All my family have one. We started the 'tradition' a couple of years or so ago as we were all going to one of daughters houses for Xmas day and decided it would be fun to all wear one. It only gets a yearly outing! Hubby and I also have silly Santa hats and I did have a pair of decorated pretend glasses. If it makes the grandkids laugh that's all that matters!

CBA, It's another ploy to part you from your money. Get people to buy something to wear for one or two days.
Then. "well you can't possibly wear the same one each year" so you will have to buy another and all these dreadful things will hopefully just end up in recycling.

I still remember that stupid onsie craze. No one looked good in them.

Everywhere's a bit hot to do justice to the Christmas jumper,like some other ladies I would prefer a long sleeved t-shirt or a cardigan please.
