Weather on the days your kids were born

I can't remember but oddly enough I do remember that it was snowing in April when my mother brought my baby brother home from the hosptal. I was 10.

I know what it was like when I had my eldest son because it was July 1976, the baking hot summer! I was in and out of the hospital for a couple of weeks before he was born by emergency C section, so lots of toing and froing in hot cars and we lived some distance from the hospital.

Don't remember when second son was born, but as it was at the end of August there was probably sunshine too lol. Another C section, but planned in his case, so I was in the day before.

Daughter was a Domino booking should have stayed in hospital for 8 hours. But after 4 hours the midwife said that the weather was going to take a turn for the worse,as baby was ok we could go home.
So we had two very festive bundles of joy.

DS was born while snow was falling, St. Valentine's day 1987.
The delivery room had privacy windows, and I remember watching people skidding about outside!

31 October, foggy, foggy, foggy; the 35 mile drive to the Maternity Hospital was a nightmare! (well for DH driving)!

No 1, can't remember the weather, it was about 9.00pm and we got there in our old Morris Minor. No 2, again, no recollection of the weather, cos was blue-lighted in ambulance in Germany. No 3, they knew it was a dank day, but again a bit of a rush job whilst spending half term at my mums. Last two were in a hurry to get here!

December 5th 1963, cold but sunny.
January 5th 1965, cold, dark early morning.
January 1st 1967, another cold, dark early morning.
October 1st 1969, warm and sunny.
September 22nd 1971, night time, too occupied to notice the weather!

I can't remember what it was like on the actual day but I do remember waking up next day to a foot of snow! My husband was due to do a trip to the south, fortunately for me it was cancelled. This was beginning of December 1981 in the north west, and I remember the nappies freezing on the washing line most of the winter.

No clue at all.

eGJ - - Our second baby was born at home in November ( birthday coming up soon), and it was so foggy I couldn't take him out for a month!

March 1969, lovely sunny day and my own room in maternity hospital. December 1971 baby born at home, cold and crisp and exactly seven days before Christmas.

DS was born at home during a thunderstorm! The electricity went off for a while and I remember the midwife insisting DH find the primus stove so I wouldn't miss out on that much longed for cup of tea at the end of it all. It was back on after half an hour though much to everyone's relief.

Both DDs were born in hospital so I have no idea what the weather was like.

Sunny days for all four births( 2 were Summer, 1 Spring and 1 early Autumn). Don't think the wearher had any effect on them then or later, so no deeper meaning to be found therein. However, it is quite amazing that it wasn't raining for any of the births!

My son was born in November in North Yorkshire. I'd been taken in for an OBE (oil, bath, enema!) as he was overdue and several women were brought in early over the next few days, as heavy snow had been forecast and they lived in a nearby town which was frequently cut off in bad weather. The first time I took him out in the pram the snow was deep enough to hide where the kerb was and I pushed the pram over the edge No damage done but I turned round and went home again!

30th October.
It stated off bright and sunny and gradually got wet and windy.

8th August I think it was sunny but I spent the day recovering from a C section.

Snow falling and freezing for our first son, hot and sunny for the second. I remember being scared the midwife would have an accident because of the slippery roads the first time and fretting the clothes for the second would be too warm. Displacement I think now .

There seem to be a huge amount of snowy days remembered, were you all living in Scotland? Or Norway?

Cold, frost, and snow feature in all three of mine. One in December and two in February. Would have been nice to have a summer baby!

My son was July 1976 the heatwave Summer the night was born the weather broke and I stood at the window with him in my arms in the early hours watching the storm.
The others I don't remember other than it was cold.

D was October '87 haven't a clue about the weather. I'd been on antenatal ward for 7 days prior.
S was February '91 I'd had a couple of stays on the antenatal ward but they wouldn't let me go home this time as that was 30 miles away and they thought I might get snowed in ! Plus the hospital was on top of a steep hill so I spent the week before he was born watching the heavy snow from the day room window. I can't remember if it snowed on the actual day.

Like Maranta, my eldest was due Dec 81/Jan 82. The ice and snow were about 18" deep on the pavement and I hoped I wouldn't have to walk to the hospital if I started labour whilst DH was at work. In the end, he was induced, so the trip to hospital was planned and DH had the day off.

No 2 was born in November 1983 and I'm sure there was a thunderstorm, though, to this day, I can't work out how come there was a thunderstorm in November! That DS has lived up to it with his impetuousness and temper ever since!

First one, windy practically a gale. Didn't like to think of the omens! But all was fine. The other two don't remember at all. Couldn't have been as extreme...
