I'm going into hospital tomorrow to have a benign brain tumour removed. I've spent the last few days reassuring everyone i.e. family and friends, that I'm fine about it and really not nervous at all, especially my Mum. She's 86 and has naturally got quite upset about it. In truth, I really have felt fine about it. However I just finished off packing my overnight bag and it's sort of hit me all of a sudden, I'm done now being brave and finally admitted to myself and to all you GN's that I am a bit scared!

I can feel for you so much as I am in a similar position. I am having major surgery on Friday and I am now a wreck. Convinced I won't see next week and worrying about everyone else if die. It's normal I suppose but we have to think of how many times these surgeons have done their operations and the things in place for any problems that come up . My grown up nephew had a brain tumour (incurable cancer) and he had his tumour removed every time it grew back ....5 times in total. He never had any complications and it was routine to the Dr's. Not sure what else to say other than roll on this time next week for us both!

albertina Mon 10-Oct-16 15:21:21

All the very best to you. Get well soon xxxxxx

It never ceases to amaze me how many people just read the OP and don't bother with any of the replies before they post! confused

Hope you don't have to wait too long for a new appointment, NanSue.

NanSue Mon 10-Oct-16 15:29:27

Laurensnan I hope all goes well with your surgery,I'm sure it will and we'll both be absolutely fine. flowers. To be honest I'm more worried how it's going to affect my mum if they postpone too many times.
How absolutely heartbreaking for your nephew and his family. My heart goes out to them.

ElroodFan Mon 10-Oct-16 16:07:52

NanSue, Is it a pituitary tumour? If so I was diagnosed 13 years ago. Operated on and made a full recovery. It's scary but no reason why you shouldn't make a full recovery also. Good luck

crazygranmda Mon 10-Oct-16 17:07:52

NanSue, there are a lot of folks thinking about you today and wishing you a successful op and a speedy recovery. Please let us know how you are just as soon as you are well enough to begin posting on here again. The fear is natural. It would be unnatural not to be afraid. Fear makes you wary and alert to what is going on around you. When it is all over, your sense of relief and well being will be all the sweeter for your having been afraid.

God bless.

Maggiemaybe Tue 11-Oct-16 09:31:58
