Galen do they not listen, or more likely, do they not care?
ann that is really good news. 12 weeks is a long time in the grand scheme of things.
Daphne how old is young Flynn now? He is so alert and taking in everything around him. I hope that his parents are getting more sleep now that he is a tad older.
Wobblybits I am certain if I was at the job hunting age now I would be unemployable. I do not know how such young children cope with the gobbledygook. If you cannot get your head around it, how can they?

(1001 Posts) Well...Here we are again, happy as can be, all good friends and jolly good company.
I've been caught on the hop. Come on in and make yourselves at home.
and (((hugs)))
ann That's really good news! You must be delighted.
Galen You need to have a meltdown with the stair lift company, have you tweeted about their incompetence? It's shocking that they are leaving you with this problem.
kitty Will you be getting a baby cuddle soon?
My poor dd is still having a hard time thanks to her ex, and now my middle gd is going off the rails a bit, which is very worrying. I can't do anything to make it better, makes me feel so useless.
Today, the diabetic son of one of my oldest friends is having an operation. He nearly died a couple of weeks ago and has been in an induced coma for a while. He has many problems, and it's not a hopeful situation. My worry gene is on form.
I'm leaving a large lemon drizzle cake for all to guzzle share, because someone was asking for a piece ^^ up there. Enjoy xx
Ps. Those doggy coats look very smart ?
So sorry about your problems Lona my own wheels have been coming off recently so I know a little bit how you feel.
Tomorrow should have been my D's silver wedding and I know how she is feeling. Her H is living a wonderful life and he and his new love are spending C.. in New York, meanwhi!e their son is on antidepressants trying to deal with the situation so I can empathise with your GD. Let's hope for happier times for them all.
to ann sixty and lona. Life can seem very unfair can't it, and even if we can thole it, it hurts all the more when it affects those we love.
Sometimes I try to excise the word "worry" from my vocabulary, and try to replace it with "care", because worrying when you can't change things is fruitless, but caring never stops. ( As a natural worrier, I rarely succeed , but the intention is there)
And yet some people sail through life, leaving a trail of disaster behind, and they don't have a care in the world. I don't know how they can live with themselves.
Lona do you remember when you were little wailing, or your children wailing "It's not FAIR"?
I do, only too well, and my dear Dad used to give me a hug and say "Nobody promised it would be"
But I totally agree with you, some people seem to be Teflon coated and nothing touches them. On balance, however, they are not nice people.
You know who you would rather be with and maybe, just maybe, one day they will get their just deserts.
Galen You know that brick wall that is covered in graffiti...that would be a suitable spot for a bit of head bashing...
Nellie Rory can't read. He just looks at the pictures. And, may I add, dear Bracken spends as much time in the house as she pleases. She won't stay around because she is nervous of people. She has a warm spot in the utility room. We even leave the back door open throughout the evening. Hard done by! Nay! Don't believe a word that Charleyg utters.
annsixty We like to hear that you are happy. Big
and long may your 'up-beatness' continue.
Annsixty are these injections to do with macular degeneration? Its amazing what they can do these days.
Wobblybits It's a fact that they are making children a whole lot brighter these days.
kitty are you warming up for the new baby cuddling session. Not too long before the family is at home where they belong.
Lona I'm so sorry to hear that family problems continue to cause you so much concern. Naturally you will be feeling useless. There really isn't a magic solution to cure your worries. Please continue to confide in us lot if it helps to share.
DaphneB Your words are very wise.
One of the elderly care home ladies slowly slid from her chair this morning. She wasn't hurt, and the carers promptly had her safely back in her seat. M looked at me and whispered...'she's been on the bottle'...which couldn't be further from the truth. I confess to wanting to laugh out loud.
NellieM yes I have wet AMD but also PCV which is polyps on some part (I'm sorry to say I can't remember which) and I was lucky to be able to have laser treatment at !Manchester Eye Hospital which is clearing up both conditions.
I have certainly had my money's worth out of the NHS recently.
annsixty
soop that has hurt me in the depths of my heart!!!!!!!!
Awww, you two. Kiss and make up!
Well some good news!
Following me having a minor meltdown on the phone to the lift company. They're coming on this Thursday.
I just hope it performs for them, but I bet it doesn't.
The bad news is that they're coming between 8am and 9am
Means I don't get a lie in!
But if they do sort it it'll be worth it!
Keep fingers crossed for me as it's driving me round the bend!
Fingers crossed here Galen. I have a friend reliant on a stair lift and know how difficult life can be when it breaks down.
ann60 and Lona sorry for your worries. I am having a bit of a wobble at the moment too. Never about myself, always worry about the DGC. Life has it's problems for one of them and the worry never stops does it. Would that we had a fairy wand to wave all the troubles of the world away. Hope thinks look up for all soon.
anno honestly we are still friends!
Good morning lovelies !!
Its a crisp bright day here and we are off to the local sign makers for blackboard vinyl ! I'm planning on making Christmas countdown signs for my little ones so we'll see how that turns out!
A spot of babysitting for our two eldest grandchildren last night - and its always an eye opener. Some of the tosh the youngest ( aged 7) watches on his iPad is amazing!!) .His sister and I had a long chat about her birthday treat . She has, since the age of 5 always asked to go shopping as her birthday present . The aim is to come back with a complete outfit right down to shoes.
Grampy refuses to come because of the amount of trying on and 'twirling' that goes on where he has to wait outside
So its in the diary . We have selected the shops and we will be 'ladies what lunch' afterwards. I'm looking forward to it immensely.
Galen I'm hopeful that your stair lift man, arrives and finally gets everything properly sorted !
Great news * Ann* you are doing so well after your knee op and everything. You must be pleased with your progress. Your Ds ex will get his !!I am quietly confident that what goes around comes around so I hope she can find comfort in her current life. Its too short to be unhappy
Oh soop your story about the care home lady made me laugh out loud ! How funny!! And just the sort of thing my kids may say about me once I reach that stage !!
Crafting your DGC is lucky - no matter what is happening in their life - they have you !! I worry about all those little ones in Jacksons class ( and there are many of them) who either have no grandparents or no contact with grandparents. Grampy has been asked to come in occasionally to interact with this group of 4 year olds as many have no male role model at all.
He's terrified
I hope everyone has something nice to look forward to today ( if not I will leave my home made blackberry and apple crumble here for you all.....and there's custard!!)
I'm sorry to hear you daughter has ex problems Lona and now your GD too . What a worry because what can we do? Our granddaughter who was doing so well at Karate has decided she doesn't want to go any more. Which is totally unexpected and I suspect something else has gone on that brought this on. In fact I'm taking her to her lesson on Thursday to talk to Sensei to try and get to the bottom of this total about face.
I do hope she wont just give up but we shall see.
Thank you for your kind words NanaandGrampy. I also feel very sad for the children who don't have grandparents around to spoil keep an eye on them. I only knew one of mine and she had dementia (she taught me how to play a tune on the piano though - that's one thing I do remember about her). Blackberry and apple crumble and custard !!!! My absolute favourite. Yummy. ???
Lona forgot to thank you for your lemon drizzle. Lovely as usual
A sunny hello to all kitcheners. I have returned home from the morning ironing duty for my pal. After the "duty" we sit and chat for a wee while. Sadly, today, I was told that two village people have been given a very short time to live. If we lived in a sprawling city, we would possibly remain unaware of such facts. Whereas here in the village of 200 residents, we are all on good terms with each other.
Charleyg Once a friend, forever a friend.
Bracken crept into the bedroom as were enjoying the early morning
. Rory was sitting between us and purring loudly. She settled down beside the chest of drawers and had a cat nap. As soon as we got out of bed...she was off in a flash. Later, she joined Rory on the utility room mat/cushion/fleece.
They are sooooo hard done by.
Galen I went into a mini meltdown recently. It's inevitable after being mucked about with. For goodness sake, don't rearrange the planned visit in any way, shape or form. If you need to up and decent at an unearthly hour...so be it. Please keep us updated.
Crafting I am sorry to hear that you too have concerns for your grandchildren. As a caring grandparent, you are extremely precious.
NanaandGrampy The birthday girl's wish to go shopping is perfectly understandable. You will no doubt enjoy the experience too. I love the 'ladies who lunch' inclusion. I look forward to hearing the story of where you visited and what you bought.
I am so glad that I am not a fan of desserts so thank you for the offer but no thanks to to the crumble with custard. Sorry but I hate custard.
A lemon drizzle would definitely be better- thanks for the offer from all.
Chaleyg I bags your share of the pud and custard.
NandG DD was a very good ballet dancer and spent most of her spare time at one dance class or another from about the age of 6. Then, when she was about 12 she decided that she didn't want to do it any more. I think the problem was that she didn't have time to do other activities with her friends but her dance teachers expected total commitment. Hope that you can get to the bottom of your GD's reluctance to go to her Kerate classes. Such a pity to stop when she has done so well in the sport.
Karate!
