Update on my friend's son's operation. Apparently he has to have two, one more serious, and yesterday's was the not so serious one! So my poor friend S, will have another heart stopping wait.
My family problems are not so bad compared to hers. ?

soop Bracken is edging her way in very slowly. As she is still technically a feral cat it will take some time for her to trust the two of you. She must be envious seeing Rory lying on the bed with you. She will be there but it will not be this year- she has to get used to the house and the general comings and goings first.

My last cat who was supposedly used to a house, nearly leapt out of his skin when he heard the kettle boil or the washing machine work until he got used to it and decided he was not going to be attacked. He never met a friend- he ran upstairs and stayed there until they left.

If the harsh winter comes early, she will be indoors- guaranteed.

Charleyg It was just five years ago that Rory came into the utility room for the first time. Do you recall what happened when I startled him? He launched at me with claws out and ripped through my jeans. Blood on the floor. MacS very concerned. The GP gave me an anti tetanus injection. The leg was several shades of blue/purple for a long time and the scars remain.

Lona When we consider the plight of others, we should thank our lucky stars that we are, in comparison, truly blest.

Oh I do soop, it was what my mum used to always say "Count your blessings!"
I have been blessed in many ways too.

soop I know that Rory did that to you but if you leave her to her own devices she may decide that Rory's life is better than hers. I agree, she will not want to be locked or hemmed in and then the fur may fly.

Lona your friend's son is going through a hard time at present with all of this surgery.

Oh Lona your poor friend. I remember well (on more than one occasion) that wait when a loved one is being operated on. Saying goodbye as they go down to theatre, the wait on your own, wondering what is happening. That long period when no one gives you any news. I do so hope all goes well and there is good news for them. As you so rightly say, sometimes our problems are not so bad. Hope things get better for you DGD. Depression is bad in anyone but we always hope our DGC never have to feel like this

Both I and my daughters knew my Nana well Crafty and she was and still is my hero !If I could be a quarter of the woman and Nana she was I would be doing ok !

I think you could be right oldgoat .I just want to be sure she is giving up because she doesn't want to commit the time and effort and not because someone has been mean to her or she is afraid of anything.

Today we are collecting young Cooper from preschool for lunch as his Mummy is at the opticians and then this evening I shall leave Grampy with our eldest daughter whilst Miss Laura and I head off to Karate .

This morning my daughter was laughing as she related a conversation overheard between 4 year old Jackson and 2 year old Cooper :

Coop: look Jackson the moon!!
Jackson: oh yeah. Did you know Coop that the moon is nocturnal!?
Coop: yeah! Well done Jackson!

I love that Jackson knows the word nocturnal but Cooper makes me laugh - he has second child syndrome and sees no reason why he cannot do everything his older brother does and will not allow that Jackson might know anything he doesn't . Funny boys.

THE LIFT MAN HAS BEEN. he's found the problem. We now have to wait for a replacement part. But it's working at the moment!
Apple are supposed to be ringing at 12 to sort out the iPad and amazon are collecting the faulty spiraliser this PM.

I've got mine in 2 weeks; with a dental appointment in the morning [double filling]. What fun . Mind you, I'd rather have every tooth in my mouth filled rather than wait for the 'letter in the post'. I'm a wreck even thinking about it now.

Well, at long last I've got my laptop back. It has driven me mad trying to keep up with things on my tablet or phone. They are all well and good in their place but the laptop is much easier to work on.

Lona, I'm sorry that you are having family problems. If it's not one thing with families it's another. No-one tells you that when you are pregnant do they and we are only concerned about whether they will sleep at night. . And, I do feel for your friend and hope that her son is ok.

NandG, it is a worry when children do really well at something and want to to abandon it. DS2 was a really talented footballer, training with and playing for Leicester City Youth team but all his friends started going out and about and getting girlfriends so he thought he was missing out and opted out. He played for local amateur teams and now coaches this stepson's team - really successfully but I was really upset when he gave up. After all, he could have kept us in the lap of luxury had he been successful.

When driving the DGC home on Tuesday we passed a house which was being rethatched. Persie shouted 'Look out for the wolf!' After a bit of discussion it transpired that the wolf would be around trying to blow the house (of straw) down.

I think I posted that we take our eldest DGD shopping and for lunch for her birthday. It has become a tradition and Pa has to come too. In fact, she's probably prefer just Pa as he is a much softer touch!! Enjoy it, we always do!

Tegan, I hate waiting for results be it mammograms, poo sticks or any other tests. Silly really isn't it but we can't help it. Strangely, I've never really been worried about visiting the dentist!!

Hello kittyl I'm pleased for you that your laptop is operational. Our computer has had us both wringing our hands in despair. It is that slow, I'm thankful that we are not running a business because we lose all our customers.

This computer is a re-furbished model. We do not have smart phones or tablets or other mod gizmos. Perhaps one day we'll treat ourselves to a more reliable piece of technology.

I'm about to shorten a skirt that I won on eBay. Lovely shape, gorgeous colours and about 8" too long (because I'm a short-arse)

Before I log off...kitty is baby with the family at home? I do hope so.

I forgot to say, soop, the baby came home yesterday and the doting grandad, who is under the illusion that there has never been a baby born before, has been bombarding me with photos. He looks like his mum but has my father's (the baby's ggf) ear lobes which are exceptionally long - obviously a dominant gene. I've put my name down for a visit!
