Well, I am very proud of myself, we had an afternoon tea last Thursday, there was so much cake, scones, cream, fancies that I actually felt truly stuffed. I am sooo overweight that I am huffing and puffing, so since last Friday I have not had any, crisps, sweets, chocolate or cake or alcohol and have so far swum 30 lengths on 2 days with half hour walk each day. I am not getting on the scales until Monday (as seeing the weight might make me despondent), but on Monday I will get weighed and then knuckle down and see what I can achieve in preparation for my holiday 1st November, oh..and we are eating really healthy meals with no snacks between except for nuts or fruit...

I can't resist anything so I try not to have anything nice in the house, I've been eating a lot of fruit which I like but I'd rather have a sweetie. 65 and just a tad overweight!

I can resist chocolate, icecream and sweets but cake now that's a different matter.

I can recognise all of this but can actually say I have developed a little bit of a strategy. All of these examples are about denying oneself things which is never easy.

I have re-directed my will power into actually doing something. To this end I have someone who actually encourages my exercise - after a few months of hands on help even supportive e-mails help. Having exercised hard I can really honestly stop half way through a bar of chocolate or refuse the second slice of cake. I am no saint - need the treats but can be satisfied with less.
Sitting around feeling glum will always lead to nibbling.....and if there is nothing in cupboard I've been known to eat cereal or raid GCs Nutella - so I do something - have a bath, tidy up or offer to take dog for walk. Its much better to do Something than to try to NOT do something.

I can also walk into a sweet shop - or the biscuit isle and say......'choose something really nice and enjoy it' By giving myself permission I often look all the way along the line and find myself thinking well actually nothing really takes my fancy that much and I walk away - yes its odd.....but somehow by not going down the total denial route I can take a bit more control. Either that or I have finally, at 61, grown up!!

I have been know to sit and read a slimming magazine whilst eating a packet of crisps. We have had afternoon tea treat today and I am actually getting fed up of cake.....but I just know that feeling won't last long. I tell myself every morning that I must try to find some will power, but I just don't know where I put it! Lol

you,re not the only one!!

I know if I buy a cake or bread or biscuits or chocolate, anything nice, that it will be eaten the same day...all of it!
I can eat a full cake or a whole packet of biscuits with ease n a day so no cupboards full of treats here.

I'm afraid to say Lynda your willpower has gone on holiday with mine !!

They are currently stuffing themselves with delicious stuff whilst make rude signs to 'Healthy' and 'Moderation' who are currently taking an aerobics class !!

I'm not bad with stuff in the house but, if there are sweets in my glove box, they last about five minutes!

Because you 'can resist anything except temptation'

There are people who are able to keep a box of chocolates in the cupboard or a tub of ice-cream in the fridge for 'emergencies'. Me, if I know it's there I have ants in my pants until it's eaten. Which is why I never have biscuits for surprise visitors or a just in case stash of chocolate. Why do I have no self control?
