I have great understanding for your situation. I watched my son and his then girlfriend, slowly eradicate all contact with his friends, my family and finally my daughter and myself, now no contact for over 4 years. I wrote and rang initially and eventually turned up at the door, although I knew there was someone in, there was no answer. I decided that I would hope in time, he would come around and get in touch again. He and his wife have not, I have tried to find out where they live, just for peace of mind, but I believe they now live out of the area. It is sad what you are going through, and maybe like me you are constantly going over and over again what could have caused it and how you could reconciled the situation. I have finally and sadly decided after many months and years of sleepless nights just to let things be, they obviously have their reasons, I only wish I knew what they were so we could at least discuss their feelings.

Come on! What do you expect a mum to do?

Your DD asks you not to contact her but as soon as you discover her address you contact her! This is akin to stalking and is probably not helping your cause.

Sorry to hear of the rift with your daughter. I would be careful about making assumptions on such untested and controversial ideas as false memory syndrome. It's tempting to find something to blame for the problem but please be careful with this one. Is there anyone who can mediate for you, your daughter is obviously an intelligent woman but sometimes intelligent people are not always the most sensible. I do hope you find a resolution to this.

Reading an article in Mail on Sunday (12/09/16) about therapy causing a child to have false memories of abuse in her youth and the subsequent disowning of her family lead me to question if this is what has happened with my daughter. She has totally cut me off (and has moved three times, changed jobs, cut off all her friends as well !) (I only found her new (third) address from company information on the internet) When this began, suddenly, ten years ago June 2017 there was no reason ....in fact, I had just received a text message saying she was coming on holiday to France with her then boyfriend and his two young children. I said I would be delighted and they must all stay with me. Last message I ever received. New e mails and texts to her were ignored, only once having an answer which said 'do not contact me again' ....no explanation, no reason, a complete refusal to discuss anything....she apparently told her friends and their parents I had been a bad mother ....something they totally disagreed with, having known us since she was a small child ! One or two of them wanted to call her and tell her what they thought .....but I said please don't, for some reason it is her decision ....but I tend to believe someone has suggested something to her about what (falsely) she thinks happened in her childhood and she has placed total believement in this ! I have so many happy memories and photographs of the lovely times we had together it is sad she has decided to cut contact, even worse because I don't know the reason !

Apparently the article I read said the daughter in this case had called the police because her mother placed a bouquet of flowers on her doorstep ..she wanted her arrested for harrassment .....worries me, as I always send a card at Christmas and birthdays as soon as I have found an address ....Last time I communicated with her, after her telling me to make no more contact, I did say (she is a qualified criminal lawyer) that I would get less sentence for commiting a crime than she has given me, with no recourse for appeal !

Thanks for wading through this ....anyone been through the same ?
