It has rained most of the day but our visitors are delighted as they are fed up with the heat in the south. Will be busy now for a week, hopefully they are the last of the year. I do like visitors but could do with a bigger break between them.

Spent most of today, the hottest day of the year, inside a very warm hospital room, with the hot sun blazing through the window.

oh dear! What has happened * number*? Sounds ominous.

I did not realise the weather extremes yesterday until I watched the news this am. This heat is really too much for me, especially as I was in a traffic jam yesterday, the sun blazing down and it was well after 4pm.

Naturally as I am meeting a friend for lunch in central London on Friday and we intended to dine outside, there will be a change and it will be "fresher". I have a feeling I may have to take a cardigan.

I couldn't believe how dark it was early in the evening. There was thunder and lightning here but mostly the rain bypassed us, though only 4 miles away, Bramhall was flooded and roads closed.

Truly have been weather extremes. We had one storm after another yesterday, bailed out 15 gallons of water from a small part of our build. Sunny and steamy now. All very odd. Hoping it will all dry a bit.

As long as it's dry for your lunch charleygirl, current forecast isn't for cold weather, just cooler, so hope it will be comfortable for you.

I, like soop have located your message and I am so, so sorry to hear that. As I said before, I feel totally inadequate as there is nothing I can do.

Despite going back through 30 pages of the kitchen I haven't located that particular post number. But I gather from others that your husband is ill in hospital. I do hope he is getting all the help he needs, and that you are getting support too. Coing home at night on your own is not nice, I know. I managed to read all your posts throughout the 30 pages on the Kitchen and each one is so kind, always mentioning, and where necessary comforting, other people. You sound such a lovely, kind lady. Please keep in touch on here and let us know how things are. That's what The Kitchen is for, I think. Hope the hospital ward feels a bit cooler today. Ask for a fan ! ! I "nicked" one from somewhere else in the hospital so that my husband could have a bit of respite from the heat during his last stay.

Since hearing that number's husband is seriously ill, I haven't felt in the mood for jollity.
