Sometimes I am more inclined to read if I am intrigued by the heading. I don't think it matters. What matters is that people keep on starting threads, however they head them. I don't start many myself. If we were all like me, we wouldn't have a Gransnet!

Life is just too short to get my knickers in a knot about some things...

Oh, I like to guess what I think the thread will be about. I feel very pleased if I'm right.
Plus, I like the frisson of excitement when opening a thread that isn't immediately obvious.

I agree with you Newquay. Most times that I check in nowadays, after scrolling past the site "heads ups", daft games and competitions etc, I can't be bothered to decipher the meaningless headings, so I log out. Its a shame because Gransnet used to be awash with interesting discussions.

The purpose of a heading is the same as the purpose of the title of a book - to draw you into opening it and reading the rest.

If it is clearly a subject that interests you, you read on.
If it is clearly something you don't want to read - you don't.
If it make you wonder just what it is about and sounds interesting - it has worked!

Me three .... I've read some very interesting threads on subjects I probably wouldn't have tried except for a clever headline .

I am always of the opinion that most posters dont care if others write cryptic or wrong or whatever.
If they did, I would perhaps change.
But as I thought, I really dont think most people care in the slightest.

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, but I find it sad that by your own admission you don't care whether others understand you, whether they get the wrong end of the stick, as it were, and I am afraid your "short of time" excuse doesn't really wash.
Better to write less and write right??

Thank you. Ironically I have very clear thinking, but for some reason, my writing is not always very clear.
I think it stems from a number of things.
1. speed. I dont have lots of time, and tend to go for speed rather than total accuracy
2. I just dont care! I dont care if others dont write very accurate either, it is so easy to correct if there have been mix-ups, so absolutely no problem as far as I am concerned.
3. I am aware that I am not as highly educated as some, but so definitely do not see that as a barrier to people expressing their thoughts and feelings.

All ♥️ obieone although I think clarity of expression cannot be overestimated. Woolly writing usually reflects woolly thinking.
