The "microsoft" scammers have changed tactics ! Yesterday I got an email which seemed to indicate that an email had not been sent (ie returned). It seemed ok (even to my sceptical self) so I opened it and was rewarded by a message coming up which said that it was a scam and not to shut down my computer or I would lose everything etc etc and to ring (toll-free !!!) a number. In addition to all that my computer was making a horrendous noise all of which of course is meant to make us very worried. Fortunately my daughter was able to use her phone to research the number given and of course it was a scam.
If this happens to you just do what it tells you not to do and DELETE !! Surprise surprise nothing happens to your computer but by following the instructions your bank balance could be seriously affected.
