Triple top biscuits, I think, though not certain, that they were made by Symbol, they were a biscuit with a layer of peppermint cream on top, covered in dark chocolate. I loved them, so much that when I was on a diet, my friend took them to her house so I couldn`t eat them!

sachets of hair shampoo and conditioner, these would be ideal when traveling, no worries about bottles leaking.

I.saw travel bottles in Sainsbury s. They were £1 and you could.also buy one with 4 times more for the same price. Sachets....what a good idea so simple.where have they gone???

My canny neighbour used to collect freebie sachets of shampoo/conditioner etc which were stuck to the cover of magazines for her trips away. Even better!

A thing that you don't often hear nowadays --- factory hooters, to mark the start and end of shifts. I sa often, because I just heard the Tiptree jam factory hooter and though that it was a rare sound now.

I am sure I remember seeing men hanging about with presumably wartime artificial "peg" legs. I have no idea when they were phased out to some thing more useful. Did anyone else see these or was I imagining it. I was born in 1948 so I would probably not have noticed these until I was 3 or 4.

Shops with shelves full of rolls of material in every colour and pattern you could think of. Department stores have one or two shelves now but I can remember shops which only sold fabric and sewing things.You could pick material for a dress and know there would be very little chance of seeing the same stuff because there was so much variety.

trisher i remember the drapers shops!!!!! I loved the smell when you entered a shop of all the material. It was also a delight to check out all the different kinds of embellishments for dressmaking, sequins, beautiful buttons and trimmings. Now it is so much cheaper to buy ready made i guess that is why they have all disappeared. What a shame {sad}

I remember drapers shops always pricing in farthings ie 19s 11 3/4d. just 1 farthing short of a pound, or whatever the price was, there was one near Maryland Station in Stratford.

Anyone here with badly bent legs from rickets.
I remember being told when I was a child why an old lady (in Welwyn Garden City)had such short and bowed legs.
I tried to find anything like to show my grandson what I meant, there is nothing online.
Children in undeveloped countries, yes. Adults here, no.

I saw smeone the other day with legs you could have driven a bus through. I was tempted to ask him where he had left his horse.

Sadly there are now children in this country presenting with rickets, it is linked apparently to over protection from sunlight, mums being so worried the child is covered in sunblock and wears a sun hat all the time. It took sometime for doctors to diagnose this because the disease is now so rarely seen.

I remember paying for things in guineas. I had booked a holiday by coach to Switzerland with a friend. Our holiday was 29 guineas but I was horrified when I came to settle the final bill to find I was paying nearly £31. In those days that was a big leap up. Guineas were a real con.

I believe racehorses are still bought and sold in guineas.

Mother used to soak Senna pods in water and we had to drink it on Saturday night to keep us regular. Good sister used to drink hers (swears that why she has IBS) I used to,tip mine quietly down the sink .
