When I was about 12, at the suggestion of my music teacher, I started listening to my mum's pop albums - The Beatles, The Everly Brothers, The Rolling Stones, etc. One of her album's I never listened to was Frank Sinatra's Come Fly With Me, I just had no interest in listening to who I thought was a boring old crooner.
Years later, about 3 years ago, I stumbled across a programme featuring clips of his many TV appearances singing his well known tracks and wow, what an impact it had on me. The man was an unbelievably charismatic performer and what a voice. I recently heard a radio programme about him and one of the tracks featured heavily was That's Life, and after that, I played it at least 20 times! I was talking to my mum about it and she told me to listen to Love's Been Good To Me. I will always think of my mum now when I hear that song.
His personal life has been scrutinised relentlessly, but I think he'll be remembered more for his amazing gift of performing, be it acting or singing.
