hear hear Anya they are a very privileged generation who have always had just what they wanted thanks to the availability of credit and generous parents and grandparents, they are now acting like spoilt brats which is what happens when kids get it all

The post war baby boomer generation is not one homogenous mass, a very high proportion, like myself, are liberal and left wing. Jeremy Corbyn is a baby boomer, as are many of those around him. Clearly some of this generation are conservative, support right wing policies, and voted for Brexit. But this applies too to many of the young and middle aged (the so-called Thatcher generation).
I did benefit from university grants, and am shocked and disappointed by the introduction of fees, leaving graduates with high rates of debt as they start their careers.
We didn't necessary have it easy when we were young either, I personally, like many others, struggled to find a job during one of the many recessions we experienced, did not get any parental financial support whatsoever, and could not afford a mortgage until well into my thirties.
So grow up - and if you want to argue such points, please adopt a more evidence based, nuanced approach!

if you think you are so clever can I suggest you get off your backside, find a well paid job and earn enough money to buy yourself somewhere to live. We Gransnet generation did with few of the opportunities you have today.

I am wondering if this has been posted by some newspaper reporter hoping to wind people up. They seem to like doing that sort of thing and catching people out. Will probably see some of our comments posted in one of the lower type papers.

Oh, of course, the school holidays have started. So AYP has too much time on his/her hands, as he can't be misbehaving in class and messing the poor teachers about. Perhaps spending the next 6 weeks reading about the last 50 years or so might give him/her/it/them a more balanced view and a better control of his misplaced anger and language!

AllYoungPeople Get your facts straight here. "We" did not vote for charging for higher for higher education it was a government idea and government ministers make the legislation not individual voters.
I have always been a labour voter or sometimes voted Lib dem as they are always in second place in my constituency which has been solidly Tory for years.

We are largely the generation born into a welfare state. We could stand a chance of getting better educated and healthier. It is since then certain generally the more right leaning governments have peeled back these safeguards.
It is since then the government has designed the tax system to unfairly benefit the wealthier and recently cut back welfare sytems. Blame the ghost of Margaret Thatcher for starting that decline.
Rich and unethical bankers virtually gambling with banks money caused a huge financial crisis around 2008.

The best way of making a a fairer society is through the tax system. I am not talking about taxing the wealthier until their BMWs rattle, but more tax bands throughout the system. Less tax loopholes etc.

Listen AllYoungPeople The public vote for political parties they do not vote for individual pieces of legislation.
Anya is spot on here. Get yourself properly educated about the last 72 yrs. And if you want any sensible debate stop being so bloody rude. It is quite possible to debate contenious issues without resorting to childish insults. Grow up.
