I agree that the schedule for the Olympics is pants. I turned on the tennis on the red button yesterday and there was nothing happening - nice view of the court!

The weather here is terrible, large branch down early this morning and that was just the start, I can't stand up outside in the worst gusts. I have brought all my pot plants in to the house/garage. There will be loads of clearing up to do when it stops. Thankfully the thunder stopped as the dogs don't like it and no sleep would have been possible.

I've not been in here much this week as I seem to be busy busy busy!
Just wanted to wish ann good luck with the knee op tomorrow. Try not to worry about what's going on at home while you're in hospital, just concentrate on getting yourself better. ??

Soop your hair looks great, I'd love to be able to put my hair up like that, but it's so heavy that it just fell down again whenever I tried it.

Tizliz you obviously live in the wrong part of the country- I sound a bit like British Rail with the wrong type of snow etc. but the weather is London is perfect- I would like to bottle it for January. It is warm, sunny with no humidity.

Charleyg Our turn will come. When you have dire weather we have it otherwise. I do enjoy sunny weather minus high humidity. It's the latter that saps the energy and leaves me feeling like a wrung-out dish cloth.

soop I ended up switching off the TV because firstly it was 7 a side rugby, then fencing and to crown it all volleyball as you described. Nothing decent for us to watch- I wonder when Andy will be playing? It would be the icing on the cake for him this year if he picked up the gold medal.

I would love rain here for my poor wizened plants.

I shall complain to the Radio Times for misleading us. Damn volleyball was on for ages. Surely we deserve an explanation. I've cursed for much of the afternoon. Little good came of it.

Tizliz we too have had gale force winds here today, the trouble is they have been hot with it. Very unpleasant. My poor dogs have found today very exhausting. It looks as if tomorrow will be spent in clearing up. It's starting to cool down now but the wind is still. very strong.

On the news just now it said that the RAF station about 15 miles away had a gust of 61 mph. We are seriously discussing cutting down the tree nearest to the house as some of the branches hang over the house. Have to get an expert in and don't suppose that will be cheap. I have just arranged for a young apprentice gardener to sort out my beech hedge. He is a nice lad but has Aspergers, but he is fine as long as you don't change the subject abruptly. But he is not experienced enough for tree demolition. Hope the wind dies down soon. Not much rain though, soop must have it all.

Oh dear I am possibly too late to send warmest wishes to ann60 but I will send them anyway through the aether and look forward to hearing it has all gone smoothly.
I am getting us back to normal after the whirlwind visit from the DGC. Actually it was in some ways one of their best sleepovers yet. The boys are very independent at 6 and 4 1/2 as far as their needs are concerned and for once there was very little fighting, often they are like puppies in a sack but they seem to have calmed down
Pippa is a determined little miss with an enchanting and tolerant smile and a wil of iron and a Nooooo! that you can hear in the next county. She hops out of her travel cot at the drop of a hat and took a long time to settle last night. Luckily I had put a stair gate at the top of the stairs right outside her door as she woke me (and half of Bucks) at 2.30 clinging to the gate. If it hadn't been there she could so easily have tumbled down the stairs as she doesn't really know this house.
Bit of a disturbed night (!) as I said earlier and everybody was having breakfast by 7 but I "bought" myself a couple of hours of peace to have a coffee and prepare lunch (thank you C Beebies ) before we headed up to the playground just 5 minutes from our house. Mummy and Daddy were here shortly after 12, so lunch in the garden, football for the kids and poor probably hungover SIL and then they were gone by 3. Grace reclaimed her rug and after they had all gone I went back to bed and crashed for 2 hours!!
I don't do lack of sleep at all well, but it was a treat to see them.

It takes me a while to recover from sleepovers and I compounded it by babysitting for the 2 boys again last night but at their house. So my duties are well and truly done for a while

Well time to get back to normal today with some serious tidying up . Our open day looms and we want everything to look lovely.

Grace here. I am a much happier doggie today if I could. I tolerate these small humans, especially the boys who don't really bother me pay me much attention, but the wee girl wanted to do Lego on MY rug when I was lying there too and so I just did a little Woof! And Mum sent me to my bed
Worst was when Mum took them out for a walkie and didn't take me too I really took the huff at that.
And I wasn't allowed out on the patio when they were having lunch because Mum says I can't get up off the hard stones again if I lie down and I bet there was no end of food dropped off that high chair. I did enjoy the rejected roast chicken skin and leftovers from the small humans afterwards however.
