I envy you NandG for the life you are anticipating in a new home, it is a new lease of life for you, mind you your present life sounds pretty good to me.
It is one of the real downsides of getting really old that new experiences are hard to come by. Our house is too big but moving is not practical for many reasons, and the necessary jobs like decorating are also difficult to plan. H just could not cope with the hassle. I wish you such joy although I hope the stress doesn't get to you.
I'm sure Lona has tales about that aspect and my friend's move took 6 long months from getting a buyer and finding her new home to moving but now she is so happy and full of plans. Have a good day everyone, it is brightening up here.

NandG I absolutely understand about "the feeling". Kirsty and Phil reckon you know within 6 seconds. Well I knew before I even stepped inside this one.

We had to wait for the estate agent to turn up to show it (delayed in traffic) and as I stood outside I got the strongest feeling that I was going to be living here. Have had no doubts or regrets and we both love this house. In fact DH said recently that of all the properties we have lived in over the past 51 years this is by far his favourite one. It is mine too.

Delighted to hear N&G that you have found more than one house that you like. DH does what I do and writes down the pros and cons of each property. Please do not forget hospitals, dentists and GP surgeries!

annsixty it is such a pity that it is not practical for you to move out of the house which now appears to be too large for you. I do realise many of the difficulties.

cornergran I have mixed feelings regarding ann's telephone consultation. She needs a face-to-face encounter with someone who can get matters sorted PDQ.

dudsty the burn is an interesting shape. The image is that of the pointed end of the iron. A perfect triangle of scorched flesh (which no longer stings)but is a right bummer to protect from random clouts on cupboard doors.

Gaga When we lived in Cornwall, we stopped outside a derelict hay loft. We knew within moments that we would convert it and make it into a sweet, comfortable, cosy home. We called it The Lofthouse and lived upstairs under the rafters.

Chaleyg Coolish here in Kintyre. I've been with the ladies in the Care home. I sat with the group for almost an hour. Although the chatter was non-stop I can truthfully report that I barely understood more than a dozen words.

I really am touched by everyone's concern for me, I must admit I am not used to it for many reasons. However I will reassure you all I am a tough old bird, circumstances have made me so. Many of us on here for different reasons have weathered many a storm and will continue to do so.
It is our wedding anniversary next week and I have been looking through Photos to post one as Daphne did but they are so old fashioned I have decided against it, but I do wish you could all admire my 24in waist!!

annsixty, I'm with soop on this, please let us see your wedding photo. DH and I didn't have a 'white wedding' so have no formal photos. It is lovely to see the ones from granspals. I hope you will reconsider

I'm having a very lovely, relaxing time in Minneapolis with DD1 who lives here. It is very hot but I am making the most of it before returning to the UK on Saturday to spend some time with my poorly sister.

Thank you all for your kind words. DD1 and her family popped in today and their excitement is refreshing ( DD2 and family actively encourage us not to move). We got quite excited just talking about what we could do.

Thank you all for anniversary wishes, just think I have been married for twice as long as I was single. Gulp!
Lovely lunch at a Polish restaurant yesterday (revisiting my Eastern European roots as my mother's family farmed in the former East Prussia although she was brought up in Berlin) and lovely flowers from DH who was having a good day. He has felt what we Scots know as "wabbit" today so I hope that isn't a sign of needing yet more blood
I am fretting about littlest fella who has not gained even the minimum he should have gained in the last week (only 100g) and is really off his feeds, rejecting the bottle and only having a quick breast "snack" for comfort. He had his jabs on Friday so I wonder if that plus the heat might be contributory factors, I so worry about my DGC and usually in inverse proportion to their size. DD is seeing a doctor tomorrow, so fingers crossed for him PLEASE everybody.
Grace wolfed down her new flea pills this afternoon (Nextgard if anybody is interested, Frontline had stopped working last summer so we switched and these are regarded as "treats" ) but what a palaver with the (2) worming tablets! It "cost" me three home made sausage rolls which I had actually earmarked for part of our lunch tomorrow. How can an animal chomp its way through an entire delicious home cooked sausage roll and STILL spit out the worm tablet at the end??

*Daphne8 so pleased to hear that your DH was able to have a meal out on one of his "good" days. I know how he feels when he is wabbit, I have been feeling like that during this humid weather. I do hope that he does not need yet another blood transfusion.

I know zilch about babies but it could well be this awful heat that is putting him off his liquid diet.

Grace knows how to get some decent food in that house even if she has to tolerate a tablet temporarily. Try putting a tablet down a cat!

Bellasnanna I was wondering where you were and here was I thinking that you were at home, dusting and cleaning! Enjoy your break.

soop and N&G in the future I can see three faces cringing when these photos are displayed and to have also shown them to ^us lot^- what were you thinking about?

I would like Tara to come home because I want to go to bed at a reasonable time without having to worry about her.

At about quarter past nine I was thinking that we might have got away with it when there was a knock on the door. DN with only 4 dogs this time. They have only just left.

I meant to wish Ann60 good luck with her telephone consultation tomorrow. I too wish that it was going to be face to face for you but this seems to be the way things happen these days.
I know my SiL and her daughter.had to struggle to get further help for my brother in law and I think that the fact she had broken some bones in her back and was in constant pain was one things taken into consideration.
I would love to see a photo of you both in happier times, 24 inch waist and all.

Woken up to a dull grey day here which is a shame as we are taking DGS2,and 3 swimming today and outside was on the cards. Ah well, inside will do followed by lunch that is NOT chicken and chips which is a favourite for these two small gentlemen ! The gym has a wonderful child's menu full of healthy stuff cunningly disguised so I am sure we will find something they like.

Lunch sounds wonderful Daphne and I'm glad your husband could enjoy it with you. I'm sorry to hear you're worried about the little man . Maybe a change in type of formula might be recommended. With DGS 4 he needed a 'comfort' formula - thicker and more filling. They are all different but I wouldn't be at all surprised to find the heat and the jabs have contributed towards his lethargy. Hopefully slightly cooler weather will help and of course a non stressed mummy will help.

well, time to go, we have a mountain of things to go to the charity shop before collecting the little men .

N&G I think the plus point of the photos is that the children are always dressed! That would have been cringe making 15 years from now!

That is unusual for so much healthy food to be served although I note that it is a gym. Perhaps I should go there too because I also like chicken and chips. Last night and tonight will be chicken curry. There was sufficient left over to freeze so that is another meal sorted.

Poor Tara was sick during the night but I did not know until I got up and noticed the mess on the landing. I am so thankful having laminate floors without rugs.

We had a little rain during the night- I could not believe it this morning. I do not think it was much because my plants are still at death's door but it is a start. I do not feel like doing my dying swan act because of the humidity, it is so much fresher.

Daphne has that little man ever had a bottle or has he always been breast fed?

I have to make an effort and go out.

Youngest GD came visiting yesterday, havn't seen her for 3 weeks as they have been on holiday. Four next month she was talking about the plane, what it was like and what they saw at night when they were flying. She has been a regular traveller since she was a few weeks old. When she has gone DH and I were saying how things change in generations. When ours were small it was two weeks at the sea getting there in a car packed with cases, 3 children and 2 dogs. Trips abroad were not the norm. OUr visit abroad didn't happen until well into their teens, and then it was a very special event. Now all of the grandchildren at all ages travel abroad regularly and think nothing of it, there doesn't seem to be anything special about it. How things change. The world seems a much smaller place now.

Daphne have just spotted your post about the sausage rolls and pills. One of our greyhounds will eat anything you give to him, while the she can manage to get the pate or cheese spread off a pill and still spit the pill out untouched. I have great fun devising new ways of getting pills down her

Quick visit as DGC are watching an animal programme for half an hour. Phew, its been busy but fun. Rain not helping but our trip out for breakfast this morning didn't need sunshine and with luck they won't want lunch! Agree soop face to face would have been better, but telephone is a beginning and hopefully the seriousness will be picked up and face to face happen very quickly. Hope it goes well ann. Daphne we always found very smelly cheese worked a treat with pills for our little dog, but then he loved cheese. Sounds as if you hare having a good time N&G, we managed healthy food yeterday, sadly today has gone seriously downhill, although they did eat a piece of fruit don't think enough to offset the chocolate cereal (a seriously now and again, breakfast-out treat), followed by cooked breakfast, pain au chocolate and pancakes , where do they put it all? Agree Milly holiday times have moved on, along with so much else. In a funny sort of way it works to our advantage, we live at the coast and do the traditional seaside things with them, they love it and digging holes on the beach costs nothing so the budget is happy, hence the breakfast out!
