I would love, for once in my life, for it to rain tonight. Not a lot, but enough to really water my poor wilting plants. With luck it will not be so warm tomorrow.

Tara of course is still out- heaven knows where she goes but she will appear for food and use of litter tray when she fancies.

GandTea Sun 24-Jul-16 21:43:30

Organise a BBQ, worked for us, rained just as the food was ready

DaphneBroon Sun 24-Jul-16 22:09:39

On 25 July 1970 at St Salvator's Chapel, St Andrews Mr DH Broon married Daphne
McShoogle
Much water has flowed under many bridges since that torrentially wet day smile

DaphneBroon Sun 24-Jul-16 22:10:41

Forgot the pic!!

dustyangel Sun 24-Jul-16 22:44:01

May I be the first to wish you both a (slightly early) very Happy Anniversary, Daphne. flowers What a fine young couple you look. I love the dress. smile

Do you find it hard to imagine yourself as you were then. I do. We had been married 3 years by then and where just about to take on our first mortgage if I remember rightly. What a lot of water has flowed under a lot of bridges since then.

I'm sitting up trying to cool down and also unwind a bit. DH's nephew has taken to walking his dogs when it is cooler and drop in on us at the same time. First two evening it was just his 4 ,last night he arrived with his friend and her 3 as well and tonight there were 8. It seems incredibly busy as they all mill around. hmm

nanaK54 Sun 24-Jul-16 23:05:59

Aww wishing you both a very happy anniversary

cornergran Sun 24-Jul-16 23:43:53

Happy Anniversary to you both for tomorrow,*Daphne*. Hope it won't be water flowing to celebrate. ???☕️

Charleygirl Mon 25-Jul-16 09:28:02

Happy anniversary Daphne- I know St. Andrews well having lived close to the town until I left home to start training. My mother and I shopped there frequently, especially at the Edinburgh Woollen Mill. We spent many days on the beach over the years, freezing most of the time.

That is a beautiful picture, I got married 4 years later but in Marylebone London.

Lona Mon 25-Jul-16 10:48:10

Happy anniversary Daphne and Mr Broon ??

annsixty Mon 25-Jul-16 11:00:59

Happy Anniversary DaphneandH I will raise a glass to you both.

harrigran Mon 25-Jul-16 11:10:34

Happy anniversary. I remember that summer,it rained for a fortnight and we were at home with a one year old. End of July was traditionally the shipyard holidays, not many ships in our river now sad

soop Mon 25-Jul-16 12:17:14

I'm also wishing DaphneB and dear husband a very happy wedding anniversary. Your photograph is really lovely. How do you hope to celebrate? A bottle of Champagne, maybe? flowers

dustyangel The sun may put in an appearance today. It rained overnight and the garden looks lush. It is very much cooler here in bonnie Kintyre. Beautiful with it. smile

Lona Virtual cake hmm You would hope that, one of these days, we could meet to sample the real thing. Happy thought.

harrigran In Northampton we had "boot and shoe hols" A few manufacturers still operating in the town but nothing like it was in those days.

Just to say I have spoken to the practice manager today and she has arranged for me to speak to a Dr next week for some sort of care plan for H. Our named Dr retired at the end of June so we don't have one at the moment and it is a part timer I will be speaking to( by phone) who I have never seen. The next hurdle will be talking H round into accepting some help, if last weeks bath episode is anything to go by I will be banging my head against the proverbial wall.
I hope my hospital stay will throw up some solutions.

soop Mon 25-Jul-16 14:27:06

annsixty It's a relief to know that you have an appointment. It's a pity that you cannot speak face to face. Please do not hold back. It really is urgent that your husband's care plan is dealt with before you go into hospital. I'm beginning to feel anxious and frustrated on your behalf.

soop Mon 25-Jul-16 17:23:23

My Monday Granspal visit needs to finish until tomorrow. I shall return after the Care Home visit. Please take good care of yourselves and those you love. Bye moon

It seems to be the season for me saving little critturs from Mia`s clutches. Today it was a grass snake. I`ve never seen one in my life before, and I`ve been on this earth for 73 years. It was a game lttle beggar, reminded me of a cobra striking when it reared it`s head at Mia, but on a much teenier scale, and it couldn`t half move, wriggled like buggery when I was carrying it to safety!
Did anyone else have problems getting onto Gransnet late last night? The Gransnet home page came up, but with ads down each side of the screen and across the top for Fairy Bio, and every time I clicked on anything all I got was a full page Fairy Bio ad, It`s back to normal this afternoon, thank goodness.

Oh sorry, I meant to start that last post by wishing DaphneB and hubby a very happy anniversary.

Charleygirl Mon 25-Jul-16 18:18:23

No numberplease I had a really early night because a friend had given me some books and I wanted to make a start.30 minutes into my reading there was a power failure so that was that. Under normal circumstances this machine would have been up and running as it was before 10pm.

numberplease Mon 25-Jul-16 18:38:59

Sorry, don`t know how I posted twice, maybe I wanted to make sure you all read it, lol!

GandTea Mon 25-Jul-16 18:43:18

1 Day of looking after two warring CG and I'm knackered, been like WW3.

cornergran Mon 25-Jul-16 21:28:59

Evening all (anyone remember that?). number no problem myself but some chat about itbon the good morning thread, so not just you. Really pleased you have that appointment ann, not ideal maybe but hopefully better than nothing. Maybe the doctor could convince your DH that help is essential? This is likely to be my last visit for a few days, we have DGC duties for the next three days. Will be fun if tiring, hope we don't get war g&t! Friend's funeral today so we're both pretty tired. A good funeral, if there can be such a thing, but an early night is needed. Keep well everyone.

dustyangel Mon 25-Jul-16 21:59:02

Hopefully GCs are safely tucked up now and you can relax GandTea.

soop an overnight shower of rain sounds wonderful. It is still hotter than usual here and likely to stay that way. For some reason Saturday's heat made me feel really ill despite the actual temperature being lower. Must be the relative humidity I suppose.
I hope your burn is getting better. Iron and oven burns are so horrible and very hard to keep dry so that they can heal.

Crafting Mon 25-Jul-16 22:22:42

Lona blush blush until you mentioned it, the thought never occured to me. Just shows how carried away you can get in this virtual world. Made me laugh when I realised what an idiot I'd been though grin

Happy anniversary DaphneB. What a lovely photo. Hope you enjoyed your day ??

NanaandGrampy Tue 26-Jul-16 09:18:02

Morning all !

Congratulations Daphne that's marvellous . Have a wonderful day. The black and white photo is lovely !

Glad to hear you are on your way to getting some support Ann I hope you're getting by until something can be arranged.

Number I loved the grass snake story. My brother has semi retired and works for an ecology company that does things like bat surveys and checking on endangered British species and I know grass snake counting is a favourite of his . He's such a boy!!

Congratulations on surviving day one Gandtea how many more do you have to get through enjoy? smile

Corner I do think there can be a good funeral. Some just bring such joy balanced by sadness . A celebration. I'm glad it went well for you.

We went house hunting yesterday and found not one but 2 properties !! Each very, very different so now we have to make a choice. I think we will go back next week and see the final 2 we liked and then go back to one of the 2 we found yesterday before making our final decision. Very exciting now . I made my list this morning , then Grampy will make his pros and cons and we'll see where they match.

If I'm honest I just get a feeling about one that is just not quantifiable but I think its 'The One' .

Happy Tuesdays everyone !!
