Truly happy only when I can have my family round me. As that happens too rarely because of distance, I have to be content with good books and the company of friends.

Sueac63 Fri 08-Jul-16 19:42:09

memories of my late husband that make me smile and laugh

Listening to my adult kids laugh about the mum things I thought I did well, but apparently didn't!

Climbing into a bed with freshly laundered bedding

O the sound and smell of the sea!

Waalsdorp Fri 08-Jul-16 19:47:56

Having read the messages, we women don't seem to need much to be happy, just the simple things in life, like nature, a good smell of that nature in the house. It doesn't come up to complicated things.
I wonder if you asked grandfathers about this?
My husband definitely has different views about this.
i never had a career, apart from managing a family, abroad ( in the UK and in Germany), but I always tried to integrate and find the happy moments in my new country, which was not always easy. Happiness is where you find it, even if your family does not agree, esp. the kids. We survived though. Love your Gransnet!

Seeing my loved ones happy together . The uninhibited laughter of small children - tiny grandson squealing at little games. Yoyo the Golden Retriever resting her old head on my hand for a stroke. Waking up to a day with no arrangements whatsoever - I can please myself. A new book. Lavender. My deliciously comfortable bed.A Suffolk sunset - there can't be a lovelier sight. What a happy thread - thank you
